Bong shopping -- I'm confused

If there is 50% less tar etc and 10% less THC, that wouldn’t be “defeating the purpose”.

It was the opposite--more THC was removed causing it to be more unhealthy as it requires you to ingest more tars/etc. I just read it in passing so I don't claim that it's accurate. However sometimes things that make sense, like putting weed smoke through water is better, turn out to be inaccurate.

I would say that is nonsense…

I was looking at bongs because of this thread, and I read that putting the smoke through water actually takes quite a bit of THC out of the smoke so you need to smoke more to get the same high, defeating the purpose. I'm no expert, just reporting something I read.

nah, I grew some green galato, got loadsa THC in it, and I can get totally off my tits with 2 or 3 puffs on a bong, wey hey ????

Now for the "much anticipated" update ha ha.

Got my Dynavap B.

I have good reasons to suspect that it's a copy but it more or less works and I can't prove it so best to let sleeping vapes lie. In other words I won't be commented further on that.

As expected there is a learning curve with vaping and with your specific device.

But it's kind of a fun process and there are lots of youtube videos that get into every detail imaginable.

But I'm having another kind of problem outside the Dynavap.

I bought a double flame gas lighter and getting used to making it work with the Dynavap but then it broke. Of course I wondered if it was just out of fuel but I suspected it was something mechanical.

But I did buy refill gas but that didn't fix it. Also the gas I bought didn't have nozzle adapters which appeared to be needed for my lighter.

So I tried using a Bic style disposable lighter and couldn't make that work even after watching videos

So I ordered another single flame lighter and maybe that will work but even if it does I'll need to make refilling work.

If I can maybe issue solved but I'm kind of not thrilled with the entire need for fire to use Dynavaps.

There is a solution -- heat inducter designed for Dynavap but that costs about 5000 baht.

For less than that I could get a Felix mini that heats with a battery by USB.

I don't know yet. I kind of like the Dynavap design except for the firing issues.

Anyone here that has owned both who could comment?

Anyway you slice it your inhaling smoke. You won't get high unless you do. The effect on your lungs is going to be near the same no matter what. Do a little research. I believe it's been established that smoking creates many adverse health problems. Maybe you should just eat weed to get high. Pot brownies and such. If it's inebriation your after I'm sure the cannabis industry will provide you with many options.

40-60-80 tobacco cigarettes a day may cause health problems.

1/2 a joint a day, not so much, probably less damage than living in Thailand.

Vapor is not created by combustion.

I really think in the case of dry herb weed vaping is milder than smoke.

I don't know about liquids or tobacco vaping.

You can also vape weed through a bong but I'm not clear that it would be worth bothering.

They've got a plethora of gas lighters and torches in DIY. Cheap too.

Incorrect. Anyone with a bit of experience would know this is wrong. THC and related terpenes vaporize (not burn/combust) at lower temps than the actual biomass/plant material. After you vape herb, you are left with ~ 80% weight in the form of brownish material.

"Physician, heal thyself."

Smoking and Vaping are completely different, both in action and in results. I'm surprised vaping works for smoking cessation as it is wholly unsatisfying compared to that feeling of inhaling real, combusted  "material". (Maybe it delivers nicotine effectively, which helps those addicted to it? I am a former cigarette/cigar smoker, pack a day.)

Your "update" reminded of Richard Pryor running down the street on fire, circa June 1980.

I think a battery-powered dry herb vaporizer is a much safer option than using a gas torch (while baked), and handling a hot metal tube. Yes, I know Dynavap users love their metal.

I use the Xvape Fog Pro, I bought it here. From Greenlungs I think. 5,950 I think. Great unit. The Pax 3 is also available here, but closer to 12,000, although it's on promotion sometimes for 10,000. That Fenix unit looks OK, decent reviews.

Yes, and

....

That you made out that an inexpensive bong with crushed ice was too much hassle. But look at what you are doing now… so complicated and relatively expensive. Unless you are going to be smoking throughout the day, the health risks are going to be relatively low anyway.

That's a distortion of what I said.

I don’t mind paying more for much better and so far I feel vaping is much better. Naturally my starting point was bongs because they were my thing before as a teenaged hippie pothead. There are also savings in the efficiency of weed usage with vaping especially with small weed container vaping. Of course probably not a big  deal unless you're using very often.

Cheers.

Funny comment before about the dangers of messing with torches and hot metal while baked. Yeah I get that. I'm coming to the feeling that the main advantage of Dynavap is that you can stick it in a bong. But I find the vape mild  enough without bothering with that.

DHV are also portable, and discreet. Five clicks, 30 seconds and it's ready to hit. And the resulting vapor is not annoying or recognizable to others.

Now you might look a bit silly walking down the road with your bong, sloshing your "crushed ice" and water all over the place.

Is that a bong in your pocket?

The suggestion was a bong full of crushed ice. You didn’t try it so you cannot compare. Don’t be disingenuous.
There are no savings in efficiency; that is just nitpicking.
But it’s not my money nor my time so enjoy. I’m sure the info you provide may be useful to someone.

That’s if you choose to smoke outside. Obviously the idea of a bong is for home/private usage. Edibles are best for outside.

Childish… I say what I see. It’s you who is reacting badly.

No need for such bickering here.

As I've said I left the cannabis world many decades ago so I posted here as a way to get bearings in the radically different cannabis world of today.

My preferences have led me to go down the vaping path.

Maybe later I'll find vaping a PITA and revisit bongs again iced or not.

I did title the topic about bongs but thanks to the feedback here it is now about vaping.

I hope that is OK with you.
