Police in the northern province of Lamphun are hunting a 38 year old man from Myanmar after a mother and her son were murdered in a rented room in Nong Chang Kheun sub-district, Muang district.

Chaithun was last seen leaving the area in a Nissan pick-up on April 7th. He phoned a friend to claim that he was taking his wife to Fang in Chiang Mai.

A neighbor noticed a foul smell coming from Room 2 yesterday and called the owner of the block who opened up.

Police and rescue services found a grisly scene.

A 37 year old woman from Myanmar and her eight year old son were face up side by side.

Thai Rath described blunt force trauma injuries to their heads and bruising over their bodies.

Decomposition had set in.

Near the bodies was a bloodied hammer, presumed to be the murder weapon.

Manit, 69, the owner of the flats, said that Chaithun and his wife were construction workers.

Muang Lamphun police are unsure of the motive for the murders and are keen to find Chaithun to inform their inquiry.

Perhaps.....but it says they are construction workers and no word if they were illegal.....so if legal, there would be a picture on file for sure for the work permit since he is from another country.
