A growing number of prominent Republicans are rallying around the idea that to solve the fentanyl crisis, America must bomb it away.

In recent weeks, Donald Trump has discussed sending “special forces” and using “cyber warfare” to target cartel leaders if he’s reelected president and, per Rolling Stone, asked for “battle plans” to strike Mexico.

Reps. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) and Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) introduced a bill seeking authorization for the use of military force to “put us at war with the cartels.”

From the source:

"In recent weeks, Donald Trump has discussed sending “special forces” and using “cyber warfare” to target cartel leaders if he’s reelected president and, per Rolling Stone, asked for “battle plans” to strike Mexico. Reps. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) and Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) introduced a bill seeking authorization for the use of military force to “put us at war with the cartels.” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) said he is open to sending U.S. troops into Mexico to target drug lords even without that nation’s permission."

So much for all the high praise given to Trump for not starting any wars, he's clearly eager to do so now.

Either these Republicans are complete idiots or they assume the majority of their base is.

"cyber warfare" to attack the cartels. A great soundbite for the low information voters. What a joke. He has no clue even what cyber warfare is let alone elucidate ho he's going to use it.

It plays well to the rightwing.

Simple solutions offered for complex problems, and the possibility of some cruelty too.

Other possible solutions? Perhaps interdict the Mexican coastline to stop the precursor chemicals coming from China?

Are you suggesting the US blockade the thousands of miles of Mexico's coast?  Or that we stop and search every ship that passed through a Chinese port before it reaches Mexico?

Or was your post meant to be a joke?

Bombing the fentanyl factories and 'auditing' the cartel members would be a lot easier I think.  Any other solutions?

Bomb China? That's where most of the Fentanyl is produced.

Good idea.  I assume you have the location of all these fentanyl factories and the names and assets of all the cartel members.  Why don't you sent this information to the government?

I wonder what the 2 Republicans would say if Mexico decided to bomb Texas and Florida to stop the Americans from using drugs with added fentanyl?

After all it is a case of demand and supply with US drug addicts creating the demand and the Mexican cartels taking care of the supply.

If the demand is stopped then the supply will also stop.

A sort of cart before the horse situation.
