snoop1130 Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Kidnapper claims he abducted Chinese man to help Thai nation One of six suspects accused of kidnapping a Chinese man for a ransom of nearly 4 million baht in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday says his motive behind the crime was “to help the nation” since the victim is a wanted Chinese criminal. He said the victim’s ex-girlfriend had nothing to do with the kidnapping. At 12.30pm today, police detained 27 year old Natthaphat “Gob” [surname withheld] for interrogation at Lumpini Police Station in Bangkok about his involvement in the kidnap of 33 year old Wang of Chinese nationality. The six suspects are accused of joint kidnap for ransom of a person over 15 years old by threatening to use violence or other methods of coercion to detain and imprison, joint extortion, and jointly restraining or imprisoning others to deprive them of physical liberty and allowing others to commit acts that cause physical or mental harm to the victim. ukrules Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Interesting, very interesting. Apparently there's a list of 9 forbidden countries where the Chinese government has issued a notice back in 2021 and Thailand is on the list. Quote The designation of “nine forbidden countries” for Chinese citizens to travel to or reside in under a local emergency notice within the campaign, show the extreme lengths the authorities will go to in their crackdown and the ease by which a citizen might find him- or herself a suspect. Source for this and so much more : https://safeguarddefenders.com/en/blog/230000-policing-expands Where are all the Chinese tourists again? I have to wonder if these kidnappers are rogue Chinese police - they wouldn't be corrupt and working with a honeytrap would they? I'm so sure you will delete this post that I would bet money on it but that's illegal..... 1

Popular Post webfact Posted April 20, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted April 20, 2023 Arrests In Hua Hin Following A Bizarre Tale Of A Kidnapping Gone Wrong by Editor In a story that once again demonstrates that real life is often stranger than fiction, police have arrested six suspects for the alleged kidnapping of a Chinese businessman and the payment of a four million baht ransom demand. According to Pol Maj-Gen Noppasilp Poonsawat, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Lumpini officers first received a complaint from a Chinese national, named as Yu on April 15th, describing a video call from an unidentified man the previous day, showing his friend, named as Wang, apparently restrained and with bruises on his face. During the described video call, demands were made for four million THB in ransom in exchange for Wang’s release. Wang had insisted that Yu should not report the incident to the authorities. “You don’t need to report this to the police. They will release me if they receive the money,” Wang is reported to have said. With growing concerns, Yu decided to report the incident to the police the next day. The complainant Yu claimed that he had made three transfers, amounting to 3,930,000 baht, into the bank account of a female only identified as “Sarita”, with the kidnappers promising to release the hostage in Hua Hin on April 16th. Pol Maj-Gen Noppasilp allege that the hostage’s former Thai girlfriend “Nampetch”, a 24 year old former beauty queen and her Thai boyfriend, plotted the abduction and ransom attempt. Reports state that Nampetch knew Wang was wealthy with significant assets and had a Chinese arrest warrant. This made him an easy kidnap-for-ransom target as he would want to avoid reporting any ransom request. She has described that Wang had been giving her 100,000 THB spending money each month. The alleged kidnappers used a BMW Wang bought for Nampetch and known to the condominium security staff, to access the building and a spare key he had given to her to enter. The allegation is that the four overpowered Wang the tied up his hands and feet. They then used his phone to request a luggage cart from the condominium’s staff. Wang was put inside a large plastic box, the box loaded onto the luggage cart, brought downstairs, and put it inside the BMW. The CCTV system at Wang’s condominium showed two men pushing a cart, carrying a large plastic box covered with a cloth entering an elevator. The two men then leave the elevator in the hotel’s parking lot before driving away. Wang was subsequently brought to Hua Hin where the video call was made, then to an unnamed restaurant on Sunday. One report describes an attempt to look like the group was socialising freely, but then Wang physically attacking his kidnappers, some of whom fled, while police were called, arresting the kidnap victim for assault. Another report describes undercover police officers waiting at the restaurant then arresting two suspects when they showed up with the hostage. Two other suspects are reported to have been arrested in Bangkok and a fifth suspect arrested in Pathumthani province. Nampetch, the alleged ‘mastermind’, is also under arrest. In a bizarre turn of events, a later background check revealed that Wang has an arrest warrant issued by the Chinese authorities for an alleged fraud involving 12 million yuan (US$2.3 million). With no Interpol red notice issued, Wang was able to enter Thailand on a tourist visa. He is currently being detained by the Thai Immigration Bureau and facing deportation as police process charges against the six kidnap suspects.
