Pheu Thai is facing a threat of dissolution with complaint being pursued by Election Commission

Pheu Thai Prime Ministerial nominee Srettha Thavisin released a video clip on Monday strongly defending the party’s policy under the Digital Wallet ฿10,000 giveaway as constitutional activist Mr Srisuwan Janya (right) revealed that the Election Commission has requested further information from him by May 11th next in a letter received last Friday. Any possible decisions to censure Pheu Thai including referring it to the Constitutional Court for dissolution would be a political earthquake for Thailand as the party appears on course to win the May 14th General Election which should catapult it into government.

Worrying noises in the last week as the country’s leading opposition parties appear on course to win the May 14th General Election. Any attempt to dissolve the Pheu Thai Party would be a political earthquake in Thailand as it would completely alter the political landscape and effectively nullify the expected results of the poll next weekend.

The Pheu Thai Party, it was revealed on Monday, is still being probed by the Election Commission due to its digital wallet policy. The powerful body has asked for further information from constitutional activist and firebrand Mr Srisuwan Janya by May 11th, three days before the General Election on May 14th.

 

It follows confirmation last week that the Bhumjaithai Party had instructed ten of its candidates throughout the country to also file a complaint against the party for what a senior Bhumjaithai official insists is its misleading characterisation of its policy on cannabis in particular comments by Mr Srettha Thavisin of Pheu Thai who is reported to have told a rally that the Bhumjaithai Party had unleashed a free for all in the sale of marijuana across the country with the decision to decriminalise marijuana which came into force on June 22nd last with dramatic results.

Do you even read what they wanna do? They want to implement a DIGITAL WALLET working on Blockchain that ensures that people do not spend the money in a radius more than 5km around their home.

Yes sure, right now this requirement is just for the free money they promise people. But you know how it works. Step-by-step. In the future the digital wallet will be mandatory for everyone, Big Brother can follow all of your transactions and if you are naughty they will restrict you to 1km radius around your house for your spendings :) :) :)

 

Not even mentioning that I heavily dislike Thaksin and his family personally.

Why conspiracy? It is a FACT that they want to implement this digital wallet.

So as soon as they do, they have a system in place where there is a digital wallet within they can control in which radius from home people can spend money.

I got that you were referring to this statement, but again, what is a conspiracy about that?

 

If Pheu Thai succeed in grappling the power in Thailand and they implement this Digital Wallet, the infrastructure for my mentioned scenario is there. Fact.

Then it is only a question of what you believe.

Are they super nice, cute and good people and will never abuse this system?

Or are they just waiting to step-by-step implementing a technocratic system in Thailand?

Cannabis is only for Anutin's party, the only threat there is that Thaksin will come back to Thailand if Pheu Thai wins and that is a real danger for a new coup...

Okay, your opinion. You are entitled to that one. 

But I am entitled to mine and I am sure they would actually implement this system. I think that they want to implement this is the reason why they are so heavily pushed by very influential people. Because these powerful people would like to see this system implemented to even further enhance their power over the people.

 

Sad that, based of the reactions I got to my first post, not many of you even consider that scenario. I mean sure, this forum is full of old expats which have nothing to say in Thailand anyway. But it is definitely a reflection of the general opinion in Thailand, based on recent polls, people on Reddit, Facebook and the people my wife knows.

 

Really hope the Army will intervene. I do not like the Army. I am a Libertarian and do not like any rulers.

But I am just hoping for the lesser evil. Not even necessarily for me and my family as we will leave Thailand soon anyway, but for the Thai people. Nice people but sadly very gullible.

The Shinawatras go to the Davos meetings, so no surprise. But giving everyone 10.000 Baht if voting for them brakes the election laws....So that lesser issue is causing the problem for them. Government controlled digital money will come in Thailand anyway because the current government also supports it.

I would not worry too much on the spending radius. There are worse things. Expiration date. You need to spend it within 2-3 month, so you can never accumulate wealth by saving money. You can block the money of protesters. Up to who is in power you can freeze all the money of the red or yellow shirts.
There will be no small businesses anymore, because the government sees when you sell something and can than make difficult regulations that only big companies can do.
Or if you buy too much beer and sugar they can automatically make your insurance more expensive.
Yes I am also a Libertarian and a do nothing Army is better....

I am surprised someone here even knows about the WEF, Davos and the connections of Thaksin's family to these crooks. Chapeau.  They are a real danger to the whole humanity.

 

To me it seems like the current government gives people a lot of financial freedom. You can pay literally everything with Cash here. You can bring millions of THB cash to your bank and they will accept it without any questioning. You can even go to ATMs and deposit Cash anonymously into other peoples accounts.

People are trading millions of THB with crypto and not even once the Bank is asking.

In general, the banks here never really interfere with the activities of their customers.

 

When I compare this to my EU home country, it is like heaven and hell. In my home country if you deposit a few thousand of EUR of cash to your bank account, they are being forced by the government to ask you like dozens of questions.

But my understanding is everyone gets the 10000 if they meet eligibility. Not those who voted for them. So it is a normal policy of income redistribution except for the digital aspect of it. My state government in Australia had a promise of $250 to help with electricity. Similar type of thing.

Unfortunately , disposing of Pheu Thai would not solve the problem for the ultra nationalists since a greater danger is the Move Forward party. If people can't vote for PT , their vote will shift to MF which given their agenda , will not be tolerated. So, pretty clear that something will need to be done to hobble Move Forward either before or after the election.

yes but the strange Thai election laws prohibit such things. Prayuth wanted to lower the electric price and the election commission blocked it as it could be seen as vote buying thing.
