I have got my head around their Platinum and Gold package offerings for the new season, but still a bit confused about the cheapo package! If I get the 'Knowledge' package (for example) then I have read that I would be able to watch 3-5 matches a week if I pay an additional 299 baht a month. Does anyone know if there is any choice in the games you would be able to watch if using this package?

Thanks.

I'd imagine that you will be able to get most of the Sunderland games, as I'm pretty sure that it will be the top teams that are going to get limited screening on packages other than Platinum. As you know, Truevisions are a complete rip off who have no idea of customer service.

Doe anybody know if we are still going to get ESPN/Star Sports when the new season begins. I noticed in this month's True Visions Magazine that there are no listing for ESPN/Star Sports. I'm sort of expecting them to disappear any day now from our screens.

I don't think anyone really nows the TRUE answear to this other than the deceitful executives over at TRUE. A lot of information on another thread about that here. My understanding is that ESPN and Star will continue until the end of the month, but after that who knows? TRUE have been pretty slippery on confirming on what is going to happen - but I suspect that there will be no more ESPN and Star sports after August 1st :o

I will probably end up staying with TRUE, but that is more through limited options and their monopoly on the market. So, will end up paying more money for an inferior product. :D

Keep an eye on Pay to View ????????

I,m sorry to say that the usual considerations of money have now caught up with the loyal football supporters of Thai visa and a reality check on what the modern game is now truly about.

You all deserve better who ever your team may be.

Comercialism and greed have all but killed the ability of most fans to be able to pay at the turn styles on a regular basis, especially those with younger family members.

Most i know in the U.K. are selecting odd matches, not because of who it is, but the lack of funds to pay week in and week out.

IMHO of course.

( a platinum subsciber incidently ) and yes if there was an reasonable " English " alternative for my daughter i would cancel the subsription and change.

I agree with you Marshbags and I'm looking for better options. I can't subscribe to the local cable tv company (WE TV) as they don't go down my street. I was wondering about the internet option, downloading some of the games on it. I think it's possible providing you have a high speed connection. I don't know any particular sites but this could be the only option for a lot of us. By the way you might have seen them promote the 'Gold' package yesterday on one of the minor sports channels and it doesn't look good in terms of build up and presentation. The worse thing is the replacement for John Dykes who is a fat Thai geezer in a Spurs baseball cap. I thought of cancelling my subscription there and then. :D

I emailed Truevisions to get a clearer answer on the 'season ticket' package and having the 3-5 games on top of one of their cheaper packages. All they did was provide a link to their website which hardly clears up what I wanted to know.

Anyway, I guess we will all have to wait and see what happens. I agree that ESPN and Star will probably disappear. I also wonder if the SIX football channels available to Platinum subscribers are going to show any other leagues ... or just continuous repeats and garbage analysis 24/7. Sounds like UBC as we know it!

I am probably moving into a new apartment next month and asked the owner today whether they had a cable/satellite feed. He said they do have, but it's not UBC. However it has 50 channels. He had to answer the phone at that point, so I didn't find out which channels. Anyone got any ideas what package offers 50 channels?? Perhaps it's all free TV from India and Mongolia. More chance of seeing John Dykes and Shebby Singh there, I think! :o

It could be KazakhstanTV, which means Shebby and probably Borat. If it is, it still may be better than TRUE with Somchai.

I'd imagine without ESPN/Star that we'll probably lose coverage of the UEFA Champions league. I haven't seen True Visions advertise it in their new super-duper package.

I' guess we won't find out what's really happening until the new season starts. :o

Don't worry Spit, the UEFA Champions League is scheduled to be replaced by the CIS Insurance Cup. Much more entertaining!

Oh ... tell those greedy jam tarts that Craig Gordon is a very good keeper, but he's not worth more than 8 million ...

I'm still getting no, or mixed info about the English commentary for premier league matches.

My wife called True, and the girl said 'nothing has changed-English football will still be on ESPN'....!

Now that's the True call center.

Amazing.

I just want to know if the matches are going to have English commentary...If not, I'm ditching True.

Anyone know for sure either way?

Cheers

After sifting through the True website again I found this:

'Also, enjoy more with bi-lingual commentary by our TrueVisions' team of leading commentators and the original commentary from Premier League'.

Not sure what original commentary from the Premier league means - I assume they mean from sky sports.

There you go.

Yes, but I wouldn't take that as a given, as on another forum on this site, (to do with ubc) someone showed an e-mail that they got back from true directly and it said that as no-one comlained in the world cup (but I thought lots of people complained) the commentary would be just in thai, as this was cheaper for them.

I am not expecting anything anymore, and i can't believe we could be losing lost fa cup and champions league

It was I that posted the email that I received from TrueVisions that stated their commentaries would be in Thai only.

Since then I asked my friend to email Truevisions and query the point.

The letter was sent in English, but this time the reply was in Thai. After translation it seems to say that there will be commentary in Thai and English but fails to confirm that it will be the original commentary. The letter also says that we can watch on ESPN if we wish.

Now, the TrueVisions website is stating that that the TrueSports channels have EXCLUSIVE coverage of Premier League matches, so that seems to disagree with the email.

It's a pity that they didn't reply in English. I am always dubious of translated documents.

A check of the TV schedule on the TrueVisions site shows that ESPN has the Community Shield match scheduled for August 5th, there is no mention of Here We Go on August 10th, or any live football for August 11th or 12th, but Football Focus is scheduled for August 14th.

If ESPN and Star do disappear, it will probably still be possible to follow the Champions League via the Thai TV channels. Last season they covered most of the matches broadcast by ESPN & STAR, usually with English commentary but sometimes with ads.

I agree with everybody else that we just have to wait and see what happens and we can't accept anything that anybody tells us yet.

All this just goes to show how badly run True corp is.

Nobody is given the same answer.

Terrible outfit.

I just hope an alternative comes along one day - then True might treat their customers better, and train staff correctly.

train staff correctly.

This is Thailand, you know. Why should True be any different to other organizations?

I actually suspect you'll have your ESPN and Star Sports come August. There are many threads about this but everything is speculation until definite information is released or until August rolls around. For me, if those two channels are kept, UBC is quite a good value for money because of its comprehensive sports coverage. Only for the sports, mind you.

As for other leagues, the other sports channels like supersport have always showed some German, French, and Spanish league games. One of those other channels also always showed UEFA Cup. I'm not sure if the final was on ESPN or not, but most of it was not on either ESPN or Star Sports.

According to the True Visions August program schedule on their website it appears as follows:

Channel 61 will be the main football station with EPL 24/7

Channel 62 will be the same as before. Wrestling, Aerobics Oz Style etc.

Channel 63 will have the extra EPL games when they clash with channel 61

Channel 64 appears to have all the sport that used to be on 61

Channel 65 + 66, ESPN and Star look the same as before but with repeats of baseball and formula 1 to replace the slots vacated by the EPL.

Channel 67, 68 and 69 no info given

If the first Premier League preview programmes like Premier League World are anything to go by, it looks as if we will be watching stick men playing this season with the wide screen picture being compressed.

Watching the recent tournament in Hong Kong it gave me a headache, not just because Portsmouth won.

I wonder if it will view ok on a widescreen TV?
