A former Thai singer took to social media to reveal that a Grab taxi driver, claiming to be a soldier, threatened to physically harm her. The singer, Jamila “Mila’ Panpinij, demanded that Grab takes responsibility for the incident and pay for treatment costs associated with her post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which was triggered by the incident.

On Wednesday, May 31, Mila shared details of her encounter with the violent Grab taxi driver through Instagram. She began by providing information about the driver, who was identified as Nopporn Saengchan. Nopporn drove a Toyota Camry with the registration number 6กฌ5764 and provided services through GrabCar Premium, which typically offers a higher level of service compared to regular Grab rides.

Mila said…

“Since I got in the car, the driver was extremely rude. I informed him that I have two destinations and he responded “Err” which is very strange for Grab Premium drivers. I was on the phone with Piccolo (her boyfriend), and the driver was on the phone as well. He kept increasing his voice, so I asked him politely, ‘Excuse me, are you on the phone?’ He did not respond until the third time. He finally turned around and shouted, ‘What do you want? I am on the phone. Mind only your business!’ I quickly hung up for Piccolo and started recording videos. ”

she had already PTSD as it was triggered by a grab taxi.. I don't know what this story is about. A former Thai singer wants to be important?? she on the phone but when the cab driver is on the phone she gets angry?? Why use the service if it start like this? Her behavior was not good too and of course if you have  a kind of attitude because once you were "famous", it will be responded with the same attitude.. So again what is this story about?

I started doing “silent ride” grab trips. You can mark it as a free option when requesting a ride. Drivers hate it. Most drivers will turn on the radio (allowed under the silent ride option) and do other strange stuff because they are uncomfortable with any type of silence or non-engagement. Any breaking of the rule it’s a big zero reviewed trip and they get called less for other rides through the app.

So nothing happened.

Other than a driver using his phone and getting aggressive when asked not to.

The lack of understanding that this is an issue is an issue in Thailand and the reason why the roads dangerous.

People just push back against similar stories because they don't like that this lady maybe wealthier than them and therefor suspect she behaved in an impolite manner herself, even if she did...  its still the drivers job to provide a safe service.

There is a story on her from two years ago in the Bangkok Post. Her brother she says beat and stabbed her, putting her into the hospital. Diagnosed with PTSD.

Better than Oil, I suppose. Or many of the ridiculous names they conjure up for themselves.

I have had students called Banana, Insect, Creeper and Horlick……I had one guy called Evans who wanted to change his name to Pap Smear because he thought it sounded cool. He also said he liked it because it sounded Israeli ???? I convinced him not to use it and he changed his name to Ed. These are HK students by the way.

She claims she has PTSD from this incident.

Well it may well have been upsetting.

However I wonder at what level she would rank her PTSD compared to war veterans who have experienced debilitation injuries, loss of limbs, seen in military action at arms length away buddies have half their head shot off, years of flash backs, still experiencing severe panic attacks, etc, etc?

And it's against the law, in Thailand for drivers to use their phone while driving.

I've been in taxis with my Thai uni students and s student has politely/clearly told the driver to immediately close his phone.

A few weeks ago, when I took a taxi home from Suvarnabhumi airport, the taxi driver was on 2 phones at the same time. He used some kind of app to record and send voice messages and had to press the screen when he was speaking. Then the persons in the other ends would reply and the conversations would go on and on.

In my thousands of taxi rides in Thailand, not a single driver has met my expectations, that the driver should be polite, not be on the mobile phone, not listen to the radio or watch a movie and keep both hands at the steering wheel when driving with passengers.
