On the evening of June 29th, a horrifying incident unfolded in Kalasin province, captured on surveillance video. The episode involved a man, partnered with a drug-dependent accomplice, launching a savage assault on his father.

The target of the violence, Suriya, aged 55 (surname undisclosed), had earlier denied funding their drug dependencies, triggering an intense argument. The friend, identifiable by his yellow attire, became particularly violent, battering Suriya with a knife and kick blows, even as he lay incapacitated. Suriya's biological son witnessed the ordeal but did nothing to mitigate it, reported Naewna

Authorities were informed promptly, leading to the capture of the two culprits. Drug tests turned out positive, and they are now facing an array of charges, including assault, home invasion, and ongoing abuse.

Despite his serious injuries, Suriya was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital and is currently stable. The entire event, documented by Suriya's daughter residing abroad, has sparked massive public indignation.

meth is a strong contender at a few baht a pop.

Maybe but alcohol is socially acceptable, which doesn't help.

In my home country, 75% of court cases are alcohol related, yet they are allowed to advertise freely, or at least they were when I lived there.

Alcohol is a social substance/drug like many others... taken in the extreme is the issue.

Banning is not the answer, education is and effective laws for those that go to the extremes.

what drug ? this is important. otherwise it will be blamed on cannabis.

If you read the link on the first line it says Yaba.

The police dont test for cannabis, because it is legal.

Although it does make some people paranoid.

Doesn't matter....In Thailand pretty much any & all drug including alcohol or even nicotine dependencies have at some point escalated to this type of abusive behavior

...and pretty much every other country, it's not just Thailand.

Addiction is a terrible disease.

Give these poor young men the help that they need, so they can reenter Thai society as well adjusted, as honest, as moral, and as peaceful as all the other members of Thai society. ????

It's a pity that you weren't astute enough to not include the word "here" in your comment.

Well, Thailand isn't big on helping people rehabilitate or get over their addictions, so let's just make an example of these two and sling them where they belong!

Good luck with educating these lot up in Isaarn, many can't even read or write, let alone string a sentence together.

And a great many young ones are simply not interested whatsoever in work.

Effective laws? How can that be achieved with a Police Force rotten to the core.
