Golden Earwig - Radar Love.

L

I haven't heard this for ages. Definitely one of the top 10 driving songs

Posted

Considering this was put together by Honda, I would have thought the classic track by Madness would get a mention, Honda Honda Honda.

On a more serious note, Tom Robinson Band with 2-4-6-8 Motorway should have got a mention.

For a kick up the jacksy if you're beginning to nod off at the wheel, then a shot of Motörhead is a must.

Same for Acca Dacca.

For those that worked in and around London and commuted by car, then nothing more annoying than when the radio station plays this when you're stuck on the M25...

IMHO, you need to distinguish between "driving on a sunny day" and "driving at night". Different vibe for both.

At night, I like the Doors 'LA Woman' or similar

Also Sade is good for evening "The Sweetest Taboo"

Surprised not more Tom Petty for daytime driving- "Refugee" or "Running Down a Dream"

For the survivors of Soviet Canuckistan, go for;

The Tragically Hip "Locked in the Trunk of a Car" or "Three Pistols"

and anything by the Cowboy Junkies at night.

i couldn't agree more!!

Driving on A1A through Key Largo  . Islamorada, Tavernier and over the seven mile bridge  on the way to Key West with nothing than open ocean on either side on the way to Key West with the top down  at night in a rented VW beetle convertible and the radio blasting.

Joe Jackson Steppin out.

Tough one. So many moods, so many choices. It's late but first cut are:

Ride my seesaw - Moody Blues

Running on empty -  Jackson Browne

Hollywood nights - Bob Seger

Get it right next time - Gerry Rafferty

Brother where you bound - Supertramp

Ventura Highway - America

Long jumping jeweler - Little Ruver Band

River deep mountain high - Tina Turner & Jimmy Barnes version

Could go on and on and on but it's late.

Great thread by the way.

My kids were about 10 and 12 when we took an evening ferry to Le Havre, then drove all night to a campsite near Saint Nazaire.

The kids had this song on a loop for hours and we all sang along. Happy days.

These two are for driving on a scorching hot day, always brings to mind the standoff at the end of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly."

And if you don't mind it when things get ethnic:
