Pita To Be Given Second Chance For PM: Wan Noor

Second chance? I may have missed the result of the media shares case, the one with a 20 year prison sentence.

However, one strategy would be let Anutin have a minority government, force a new election, sweep even more votes and forget the Senate.

yes but Vietnams grows at around 6% and they actually did remove them...sounds good to me...

Means non democratic can do well and democratic can do bad....

I started my career in Saudi Arabia and also did almost eight years in mainland China pre- Tienanmen whereupon I quit to go work in pre- Kuwait invasion Iraq.

You cannot sell me on the benefits of socialism, despots or cults of personality.

Having said that, one of the upsides of Saddam's reign was being able to freely buy and consume pork products, imported beers and dine, swim and play cricket at the British Embassy and party with the Irish nurses in Block 13 in the evenings. TBH, I was a bit miffed when Desert Storm kicked off.

They will quote MF's intention to reform 112. It's inviolable in many of their minds

Sure MF has already said they don't want to remove the law, just amend it, therefore MF needs to be spending more time and activity to explain exactly what they plan to amend.

that they are appointed does not mean that they aren't well meaning. They are supposed to vote what they think is best for the country. If they think Pita is not good for the country and don't vote for him, how does that make them not well meaning?

And about 28% of the voter voted for him....while that is a huge win, that doesn't mean all Thailand want him. It isn't that all Thailand voted for him. 62% voted for other parties.

I believe this is the 2nd time you've stated Pita / MFP won by 28% ... try 38% voted for him.  PTP got 29% ...

The junta appointed Senators were not picked to  "vote what they think is best for the country", but as payoff for their loyalty and their presumed loyalty to the monarch. Thus they are not "well meaning" for the country by virtue at all.

Most of the time they did not even show up at legislature sessions, but still collected their pay.

They don't need to "give him a chance: he won it fair and square.

Get over it.

that's right, but we're talking about a corrupt military government here aren't we.
I'll believe it when i see it, but i don't really hold that much hope in all honesty.

Thailand need to start thinking about what is best for Thailand. Start by spending more money on basic education, make it mandatory for children to at least go 9 years in school or the parents will be fined, next to make sure the military has less power, and dismantle the military and make it smaller.

Only now will Thailand have a better future. As of today, Thais mental capacity if they haven't gone to school outside of Thailand would be around 60 years behind western countries like Sweden.

Why would the votes in the 2nd round be any different than the first?

Nothing more than a smokescreen, this plan is already devised to prevent his initial election but give the illusion of offering him a second chance in order to appear fair.

After gaining power, they should immediately start working on changing the constitution to elect/select senators and let the military appointed senators retire.

shouldn't be hard to send them on gardening leave while it's decided what to do with them - give them time to see a bit of sense perhaps.

And what a week it will be.

A massive show of support via huge peaceful rallies in the streets will be a timely reminder for the junta of what they’re up against.

Come the second vote, will they dare deny him?

huge rally? lol, welcome, u must be new here

And that’s exactly why they won’t gain power. The senators know what might be in store for them.

Never underestimate the stupidity of this corrupt government.

they must find a way to overcome the safeguards Prayut putin place in preparation for this day & do it in a way where nobody loses face.

Pita will need yea votes from more than half the combined total of 500 MPs and 250 senators or at least 376 votes in accordance with the military-designed constitution.

The fix...

Some things MF said was very anti monarchy....that makes many people upset in Thailand.

Some economic ideas are between nonsense and damaging socialism.....That all doesn't make friends with the conservative senate

I can't say exactly why, but it seems to me at this point that the monarchists are a bit low on support lately.  Literally I'm unable to legally state why.

Pretty much the definition of a motley crew, seems to me.

What a circus, Prayut and his bunch of clowns should be put on trial for the changes they orchestrated to the constitution. They way in which they bought the changes was far from democratic and unconstitutional but just typical of what you would expect from a bunch of rogues! Their newly elected speaker is probably on parr with the likes of the USA's Nancy Pelosi, lets hope he's not as crooked as she is!!!

I cant find it but a little after the end of the election there was a thread in this forum where Pita made the comment that when In power he would investigate Prayut ,

If you can find it I would appreciate a link.

In that thread my comment was, that this was a stupid thing to say at this time, He already won, why make that statement, now Prayut will do anything in his powered to make sure he  is not confirmed as PM.

Does any of what is happening resemble that prediction?

IMO certainly a case of premature ejaculation im Pita's part, which makes me wonder about his political instincts. Any fool knows that you do not warn the king that you are coming for him, and when you do you better make sure you Kill him.

I'll tell you what. Call me paranoid but you can bet that that part of the negotiations for the senators to vote to confirm him is that Pita  would not pursue the threat  he made.

One of the big negatives Thailand faces is the legitimacey of what the media actually report, they so often get it wrong completely misleading the public, often printing rubbish just to get a story out there leaving readers confused & often biased.

The media have published statements supposedly made by Pita & MFP that dont enhance their chances of Pita being PM. He is well educated so I find it strange that he would make these statements knowing it will damage his chances of success!

I said 28% of the people voted for MFP....38% and 25% didn't vote for anyone....only 75% went to the election.

Makes about 28%...so not all Thailand only wants Pita...
