No. I am distance swimmer. Most of the guests were Japanese and nobody seemed to be having such problems. I suffered that when visiting a resort in Saudi that was at a high altitude, but no way as high as Everest Base Camp. Back then I was fit as, so it can strike anyone. I know it was altitude sickness as it vanished as I returned to a lower level. Not fun at all. Probably a combination of that and the strenuous trek getting there. Should it be allowed to let loose people on the best dive sites with marine life and ruin it? So many things that people should not be able to buy in to without experience enough to manage themselves to go there. For most it is only possible because other people guide them there, and make an negative impact on the enviroment. Unfortunate, the local people is depended on such activities. For me personally, Mount Everest have never been a place I wanted to go, especially in a que all the way up to the top, and down again, even I have enjoyed alpine climbing for years. There is a special motivation that needs, that often comes with a carriere somehow either commersial or for business leaders, and off course hard core climbers with a pure goal. When I flew there in March 2000 it was still a dirt runway. It was paved in 2002 which is a lot nicer.

save the frogs
anyone who wants to climb mt everest should be forced to undergo a psychological evaluation. the psychologist should ask: "what is it about your life that's making you so miserable that you want to do sth that might kill you?" Most adventurous things carry a risk. Why do people jump out of planes and rely on a bit of material to stop them dying? Why did I go to work in Antarctica over winter, when no evacuation was possible should one have a medical emergency, ( and die )- because it was an adventure.

Sigmund
A useless feat and plainly for the ego. The Everest is becoming the highest garbage and human waste dump of the world. Surprisingly, it's usualle the same people who give out lessons on how to save the planet-stop oil-stop-plane travel etc...who rush on those guided expeditions with Sherpa's and logistics and end up in soiling the Everest. Yes, it is however a fact that thanks to these adrenaline junkies from the west, the entire region in Nepal makes a living. But these Everest tours should be banned before ranting on the cruise ships or air travel that the usual pro climate ecoterrorists are always giving out upon in Europe, in the name of climate change.
LaosLover
I flew around it in a small prop. plane (Buddha Air). Everyone got to sit in the co-pilot seat for a couple of minutes ($200 for the hour flight). A few months after, a Buddha Air plane crashed and killed everyone.
