anchadian Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Junta-appointed senator Seri Suwanphanond told parliament putting Pita's name for a 2nd PM vote is unconstitutional & submitted a motion to debate the matter. (Me: very confusing now.) https://twitter.com/PravitR/status/1681510251005349889 1

Pita added that country is currently facing a cloud of uncertainties. Popular Post Jingthing Posted July 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 19, 2023 Guess it's two strikes you're out. I don't necessary approve of everything Pita represents, but the main thing he represents, that the people's votes in Thailand should actually matter is being (predictably) crushed. I really feel sad for the younger people of Thailand that thought there was still hope. 5 3
Popular Post mfd101 Posted July 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 19, 2023 How sad. How disgusting. 5

Popular Post anchadian Posted July 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 19, 2023 This does NOT bar @Pita_MFP from being nominated as PM in the National Assembly vote, as the PM doesn’t have to be a MP. However, legal challenges and a general obstructionist attitude by his opponents are making his bid insurmountable. https://twitter.com/SaksithCNA/status/1681530580410966016 1 2

LennyW Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Dreadful day for Thailand and so called democracy!! 2
Popular Post Jingthing Posted July 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 19, 2023 Why didn't Pita compromise? Obviously I don't know, but I have an idea. If he had, he likely still wouldn't become PM, and even if he did, it would be a hollow win to have betrayed his voters, just another corrupt politician who doesn't stick to any core principles. But going down "pure" as he's a young man, perhaps he's playing the long game. A martyr as it were for Thai democracy. No guarantee such a gamble will even bear fruit, but at least he can look himself in the mirror without barfing. 4 2 2

tomacht8 Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 I think embassies will soon issue warnings to tourists not to be in public places in Bangkok. Tricked out the will of 2/3 of the Thai population. Now this can end badly. 2
