Popular Post Nup Nup Posted July 24, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2023 Hi Gang. I have a problem and would like some advice from my knowledgeable fellow forum members if you would please. For those of you who know me, know that I am wheelchair bound. I find that I am getting weaker and weaker. Presently if it were not for my life partner of some 23 + years lifting me into bed, car or into and out of the wheelchair, I would be stuck. I have had to close my business that I have had for some 25 + years and after having lived and loved my life in Thailand for over 30 years now find it necessary to go back to the USA. Here is the problem, I want to take my life partner with me and she wants to go but am finding it very difficult in getting a visa for her. Now you cannot even get into the consulate here. My question , does anyone have, or know of a reliable and reasonably priced visa agent that you can recommend? I know I am not as flexable and as able as I once was, so I do need your help please. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading gang. 4
Popular Post gamb00ler Posted July 24, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2023 In 2013 my stepson (born in USA but dual Thai citizen) married a Thai and applied to take his bride to USA. He had lived in Thailand for about 25 years. His mother and I wrote a letter saying we would support the new wife as needed. The son and daughter in law did the application for her visa without any lawyer or agent's assistance. It took about 8 months from start to finish. Within 2 weeks of her arrival in USA she had a green card valid for only 2 years. After 3 years she became a US citizen. Since the MAGA epidemic the demand for permanent resident status and US citizenship has sky rocketed, so processing times are longer now. I wish you well and hope you can get the visa quickly! 4 3
Popular Post pgrahmm Posted July 24, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2023 We used Star Visa for my wife's US & European visa....Both went through 1st try.... The lady at the first desk that is perpendicular, past the lined up desks for reception.... She has her fingers on the situational pulse, requesting info beyond the "canned" check off list that created a complete resume that was accepted & passed..... It's located down the street from the consulate.... I wouldn't go anywhere else.... It's where the Thais go for the many visas they need for travel visas worldwide..... Good luck to you.., 5 2

Popular Post ProbPossConf Posted July 24, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2023 What is your home state and where do you plan to live in America? Contact your Senators and state representatives for assistance. Ask any of your family to plead your situation. Don't give up hope...America supports their people. 1 1 2

Popular Post SammyJ Posted July 25, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 25, 2023 I think to ask, as you refer to your "life partner", but the key to this question is: are you legally married to your life partner? Even with a finance and wife, the process can be lengthy and difficult--if not legally married, you will need to think carefully about your options and still talk to some of those visa places that were recommended. 1 2
Stevemercer Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Being 'legally; married would no doubt assist in getting a visa (and eventual residency in America). However, once in America, immigration laws recognise de-facto relationships, including same sex (unlike Thailand). So yes, it would be best to go to one of the recommended agencies to work out the best options for your partner. Once in the US, it will be pretty easy to find a pathway for your partner to stay. I would recommend, while still in Thailand, collecting as much proof as posible to demonstrate you have lived together for so long. This might include joint bank accounts, household books, joint travel etc. Even if in Thai, you can get it legalised and translated. It will be much easier to do this while still in Thailand. 1 1
BarnicaleBob Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 I also recommend StarVisa, they did my wife's immigration application for a green card, my step-daughter's visa and several friends, all were for the USA. No problems, all went through on the first try. starVisa been in business about 30 year here, others might be cheaper but I doubt if they are as good at it. By the way, StarVisa has their office, you need to go to the StarVias office 2 which is the location that deals with what you need as well as being the location that owner works from. Her name is Duan (spelling may be wrong). If you like you may tell her Bob and Jane sent you there. Star Visa Service - Home 1

It was my understanding from a friend in the US who went thru this, that to apply for residency, etc, US immigration requires one to return to their home country and go thru the process from there, Does anyone know if this is correct?
bluebluewater Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 Goodness - that is a tough tough decision that you are having to make. I expect it is going to be a bit of a rough road as well. I have no help I can offer but I do hope you will come back to this thread and update it from time to time.
