For motorists planning to travel south out of Hua Hin this upcoming long weekend (July 28 – August 2), be aware of the roadworks taking place in Pranburi.

The road widening and resurfacing work has been causing delays and traffic congestion for several months.

However, with an increase in vehicles on the roads during the holiday period, further delays are expected.

To ensure a smooth journey, motorists are advised to consider alternative routes or allow extra travel time.

The roadworks are taking place in a couple of areas along the same stretch of road.

The first area affected by the roadworks is the stretch of the bypass road outside Makro in Pranburi.

Please, pray tell, what other alternative by-pass routes are available (especially for large or heavy vehicles)?

I know of no inland routes that are suitable for most vehicles, unless you want to take a 1 hour detour via Pran Buri Dam.

Driving down Hua Hin Soi 105 to near Pak Nam Pran, and then driving back to the highway south of Pran Buri is possible, but slow.

For almost every year over the past decade there have been these road works in Pran Buri - from generally the By Pass road down to Pran Buri Markets.  Some one is making big money from this stupidity.  One day all of this area will have a reinforced concrte road, but probably not in my life time.

Went up and down this last week on our way to a Funeral in Bankrut. 20 Mins going, and and 30 Mins delay on return (Sat 22nd)

But,  being a Holiday weekend shudder to think how long the queues will be. Could be hours!
