In a shocking event, officials uncovered an additional one tonne of fireworks hidden in a building just 150 metres away from a previous explosion site that took the lives of twelve people. The find, which has left local residents in fear of repeat incidents, marked a dramatic expansion of an ongoing fireworks investigation inquiry that had already resulted in yesterday’s arrest of homeowner and business operator, Sompong Nakul.

The fireworks investigation took place yesterday, using keys provided by Sompong’s relatives who manage the store and residence, as his family was vacationing in another province. Two major sites were investigated, including a two-storey commercial building – composed of two conjoined rooms – and another single-storey commercial building consisting of two adjacent rooms.

The fireworks investigation findings suggested that Sompong, owner of the exploded fireworks warehouse in the Muno Market, did not have insurance notwithstanding an estimated 290 residences affected by the incident.

The owner will be paying for his mistake for the rest of his life and then some....

How 'lucky' for him that he was not among the dead and injured.

Another devestating explosion - possibly narrowly avoided.

Sincere sympathies to the dead, injured and the owners of damaged homes in the previous deadly explosion. Wholly avoidable with just the tiniest of thought.

How very convenient that he wasn't there.

This man should be tried and sentenced as a terrorist

Thailand is in Asia, and isn't Asia err China where fireworks were first invented?

Too bad there was not a rule to have these dangerous factories far from a residential neighborhood.

Or too bad houses were allowed to get built close to this factory if it existed there first.

Either way this was a tragic incident.

I have to add where I live fireworks are prohibited for private persons to obtain, and yes, we have fireworks certain days of the year, but they done by pyrotechnician, and the fireworks are stored well away from housings.

This is the way it should be done. I did lots of dangerous things with them when I was young & dumb, same as I see other kids do today.

Actually it started as a shop selling farming an kitchen machinery.

It was built around the same time as the rest of the houses. I suspect that the shop went bust and the owner converted it into a warehouse (legally or not I have no idea). It was never a factory either.

Fireworks fiasco: Narathiwat warehouse woes lead to married Thai culprits

fire.jpg

In the aftermath of the harrowing fireworks explosion in Narathiwat province on Saturday, a disaster which resulted in 12 fatalities and left 121 people wounded, local authorities were quick to establish the identities of those accountable for the fire on Saturday, July 29. They identified Sompong Na Kul and Piyanut Puengworawat, a married couple, as the proprietors of the warehouse responsible for the catastrophic incident.

The couple initially managed a shop christened Weerawat Panit in Muno subdistrict. The shop’s merchandise predominantly comprised farming equipment and kitchenware. This information was revealed by Provincial Police Region 9 Commissioner Police Lieutenant General Nanthadet Yoinual, reported Pattaya News.

As the narrative unfolded, it was found that the couple had subsequently repurposed the shop into a warehouse. It was at this point, according to Pol. Lt. Gen. Nanthadet’s disclosures, that they began to amass a substantial stockpile of fireworks.

Based on the evidence gathered from investigations, which included the observation of deep holes present on the premises, it was believed that over 1,000 kilograms of fireworks were stocked in the warehouse contrary to legal directives.

"The warehouse, post approval, rapidly metamorphosed into a storage facility hosting an eclectic plethora of fireworks."

"Metamorphosed" into an "eclectic plethora" of fireworks?

Well, someone had their English dictionary out today!

Or maybe the posted news story here is an AI-generated rewrite?  Who actually talks or writes like that?
