Ever heard the insult: “May you live in interesting times“?

I'm waiting for hurricane season. With the waters in the Atlantic broaching 100 degrees F, the size and strength of hurricanes this year will likely be much larger than previous years.

Interesting times for sure for the US east coast.

Given the USA for decades was the biggest polluter on the planet and the amount of waste it creates is astounding, if mankind has caused climate change, the US is only reaping what it sowed for so long.

Not the fan boy of USA, but the biggest polluter, that's a stretch, when you have IN & CH for competition.

Alaska floods become latest climate symbol in disaster-filled summer

Images of homes and trees collapsing into raging waters in Alaska have become the latest stunning symbols of climate change in a summer of wild weather — this time caused by melting glaciers.

Juneau this week saw flooding that destroyed some houses and caused others to be condemned, while other items such as trees and oil tanks were carried away.

The event was caused by water from Mendenhall Glacier pooling in its Suicide Basin. When the basin fills, it funnels water to Mendenhall Lake, which then ends up in the Mendenhall River.

Still a stretch, as simply too many people in CH & IN for the USA to ever take the top post.

Think 1950s and 60s.

I experienced American waste first hand in Antarctica at McMurdo in the 70s. Amazed how much expensive equipment they dumped in the sea.

Waste vs pollution, as you stated 'polluter' earlier.

Wasteful, they yes, definitely the USA is one of the most wasteful of countries.

Their use of V8 motors in cars that were only used in cities must have contributed mightily to pollution. Also they used oil for house heating.
