Move Forward deputy leader proposes party votes for Pheu Thai’s PM candidate

A deputy leader of the Move Forward party said today (Tuesday) that he will propose to the party’s executive committee, at today’s meeting, that they vote in support of Pheu Thai party’s prime ministerial candidate in parliament.

 

Pol Maj Gen Suphisarn Pakdinarunart reasoned that, since the Pheu Thai party shares similar views with the Move Forward party, namely that the Constitution should be amended to remove senators’ power in the selection of the prime minister, the Move Forward party should support Pheu Thai’s candidate.

 

The Pheu Thai party has joined hands with the Bhumjaithai party to become the core parties in an attempt form a government, on the conditions that the lèse majesté law is left intact and the coalition will not include the Move Forward party. The party has appealed for support from senators and MPs for its prime ministerial candidate, Srettha Thavisin, so a new government can be formed without further delay.

So having been shafted by PT this guy thinks that MFP should vote for their PM candidate because of shared values. PT will happily drop these values the moment Anutin demands this because PT have no values, no moral compass and no shame. But the voters have values and they will respond harshly at the first opportunity because once again they are being betrayed by power hungry egotistical prostitues masquerading as politicians.

Perhaps as bitter pill to swallow, but if it allows Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai to form a government then maybe better than the alternative, which the "establishment" is working towards, which is Prawit as Prime Minister, propped up by Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai.

 

Still, they have two weeks at least - plenty of time if needed to suspend/dissolve Move Forward and remove their vote.

 

Such a move would be blatant, even by the standards of the current shenanigans, and it would be darkly entertaining watching Wissanu spinning like a demented top as he explained it away, but it could be a case of needs must.

   Just what I said MF should do a week or so ago.  Proclaim loudly and publicly that MF, the party that is in favor of modifying Article 112, the party that is in favor of far-reaching reform, including of the military, will stand with PT and vote for the PT candidate as PM. 

    Now, what are the junta parties and the Senators going to do?  Be seen as also standing along side MF, and be seen as agreeing with MF, if they, too, vote for the PT candidate; or, be seen as once again voting against the will of the voters, voting against democracy, and voting to once again delay the forming of a government.  Win-win either way for MF.

If all of M F vote for Settha, the senators' votes are superfluous.

But why should MF vote for a party that deserted them rather than standing by their side and going into Opposition?

But, if they want to ensure the above never happens, then the below can never happen either. Since without the protection of the senators, a party that wants to do away with 112 can be elected next time.

In order to protect 112, the senators have to be able to choose who will be in power, not the electorate.

The statement by Pita after his party stepped out of the coalition does give indication of where MFP’s votes will likely go.

“ Forming a new government that ends the military’s grip on politics is more important than becoming Thailand’s next prime minister, Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat”. 
 

Also the news about the senators are split rather than totally against voting for Sretha is encouraging.

    That's an excellent outcome right there--the Senators' votes being superfluous.  If PT has any smarts and wants to redeem itself, as soon as it gets into power it should invite MF back into the coalition--which is why MF should vote for the PT candidate for PM.  If any coalition parties want to leave at that point if MF rejoins, fine--the ones that leave likely would be the ones not wanted, anyway.  PT and MF need to be working together, as was initially planned after the election.  Sort of a roundabout way of getting back to Plan A.

I agree about getting some payback from PT for the votes.  I don't know what happens to MF members if MF is abolished.

But I don't think PT can bring Thaksin home if Pravit and his party are excluded from the government.

It can't do that because the government has to take an oath of allegiance to the Crown as serving ministers.

I believe to introduce a whole new party after that with portfolios assigned would be illegal.

Perhaps they've come to some sort of agreement, along with the blessings of higher entities.

All of which was probably a deal drawn up some time ago.
