Featured Replies

Is it possible to go back and pick up passport 3-4 days after submittal or must it be done the following day?

Anyone done this?

Thanks.

You must pick it up on the assigned day. Might be possible to get another arrangement at application, but always the assigned day if no other agreement has been done.

Savannakhet is very busy, and they have an assembly line that they do not want disturbed. You do have the option of applying on a Friday and picking up on a Monday. That actually has the benefit that the consulate is not busy on Friday mornings.

I was going to go to Luang Krabang for a couple of days.

I could take a photo of entry visa upon entering laos, no? I actually have 2 valid passports so could use the other one as proof of ID.

Anyway, you've not really answered my questions but thanks.

Silly thread.

You want to visit Luang Krabang .

Flights from Bangkok simple.

Do your sightseeing and then travel to Vientiane for your visa.

Cross bridge and minivan to UT airport.

Yeah, that sounds ok.

Thanks for the sensible suggestion.

I drive to Mukdahan and cross there for Savanakhet, Vietiane was mentioned, it's you that's 'silly'.

Again, zero input to the question.

So excellent..you are familiar with options.

Why ask.

Just to reaffirm. You do not have option for "pick up'"

Do it next day.

Again silly thread.

Well, as one gentleman pointed out i could do it over the weekend, so it does not need to be the next day.

Again, silly answer.

If you have never been, Luang Prabang is well worth a visit. I hope you realise, though, that a quick round trip from Savannakhet to Luang Prabang is pretty difficult and expensive to pull off.

Excellent idea, showing a passport without an entry stamp. I'm sure that will go down well with whatever authorities you might encounter.

Thanks for the info, i've heard it's nice but have not yet investigated the logistics of getting there and back from savanakhet.

As mentioned, i'd have a photo with entry stamp, passport for data page ID only, i thought you'd understand that bit but obviously not.

I've done this while applying for visas in other countries, ie used my second passport as ID, without issue.

Again, you had no imput to intial question but thanks.

A hint if you really want to pursue this: the fastest way is to charter a taxi to Pakse (a little under four hours) followed by a direct flight. This sort of travel in Laos is very costly.

Really, better is probably to arrange a separate trip to Luang Prabang for the future.

Yeah, it sounds like it.

Thanks.

I think good advice. I have been to Mukdahan and I think the bus depot or even a taxi might be hard to negotiate without fluent Thai.

Yes, it will go down well, as he will also have a copy of the entry stamp from the passport used to enter, as well as a ticket for pickup passport with a date on. Don´t make it more difficult than it need to be.

Yeah, unfortunately they have daily meeting on this forum. ????

However, as you have found out, you have a lot of options.

1. Just apply and get the day they tell you.
2. Apply on Friday, and get on Monday
3. Travel first, where you wish to go, and later go to Savannakhet or Vientiane to take care of visa before entering Thailand again.

Just to take your pick and be happy happy.

I did not need you to give me my options but thanks.

Most of your posts have been abrasive.

BritTim gave good advice regarding visiting LP on separate dedicated trip..

Your plan for land travel  Vientiane to LP and return for pp pickup is a nonsense idea.

From your post above ...

"I did not need you to give me my options but thanks"

Clearly you do as you started a thread with silly plan and something you could have googled easily.

Why do you keep mentioning Vientiane, is that the only place you think does visas in Laos?

Indeed he did, and for which i thanked him.

One suggests you try to read the thread properly, that might be a good place for you to begin.....just sayin.

Your Op question was this ....

"Is it possible to go back and pick up passport 3-4 days after submittal or must it be done the following day?

Answer NO!

Silly idea.

That's why 90% have nothing to do with question. Is a silly question.

Again, read the answers where does someone answer with no?

There have been answers with some good suggestions but the majority are pointless, just like this one and you in general.

Why the aggression, i see this in a lot of your posts, there's really no need for it....

As I posted. BritTim mentioned apply on Friday ...

Also suggested make a separate trip another time.

Have you even checked transport option to LP..

Guessing no.

Leaving out the ridiculous weekend trip to LP....

You need to pick up passport when directed.

Surely you know that.

From first or second post ..

@Gottfrid...

You must pick it up on the assigned day.

guess what . He is correct..
