ChatGPT DOES have a left-wing bias: Scientists confirm the AI bot's responses favour the Democrats in the US and the Labour Party in the UK

Its about what Chat AI says not us, here's what I just asked and it happens to be your direct quote:

"What about the blacks that were running the slave trade from Africa"

So, because they weren't all at it, it doesn't matter. Interesting.

Did it say it does not matter?

Same as all US people were not involved, wow so interesting

No, you didn't.

The text you linked to swayed towards that view.

In your opinion maybe, not in mine but I reversed your question to:

What about the blacks whites that were running the slave trade from Africa America

Here's what it came up with:

You don't seem to understand my point.

The slave trade was/is wrong. Regardless. Blame needs to be shared amongst all those involved.

No single race should need to not be proud of themselves whilst others can.

Your quoted text touches on that point.

It goes without saying the slave trade is wrong, no need to ask Chat about that.

The chat also acknowledged there was blame on all sides and there is also no statement from chat that blames one single race.

EDIT. I notice you added text to your reply after I had already replied...lol

So to pick up on that. The quote was not mine, it was yours. The second quote I used was still yours but as you can see I deleted black to white and Africa to America.

Chatgpt is a toy for the inept. I’ve fussed with it and it’s completely skewed, it offers no real insight. If anyone is interested in gaining knowledge then I’d suggest hitting the books. But from the looks of it it’s apparent that the habitual thread trollers are only interested in quoting cnn msnbc and google search results that make them feel cozy.

Yet it was black people who were traded and then treated or considered as inferior for centuries (and to some extent are still considered as inferior by some white people.).

It wasn't white people who were traded by black people with the help of other white people, and then treated or considered as inferior by black people for centuries.

Again, stop making things up! Nobody claims ChatGPT is a substitute for hitting books, and certainly not the so-called liberal posters on this forum.

As a likely "thread throller" in your mind, here are a few thoughts.

1. AI is very useful for specialised subjects with relatively low ambiguity and a  circumscribed scope of information, ex. analysing jurisprudence on legal matters, doing technical service diagnosis, etc...

2. In general, for example in education, it should be used as a complement. People should do their own research and thinking in order to identify complex issues and problematize them, and then use AI to improve it. The danger is that most students may likely use AI to indentify issues and problematize them, and then only improve it by themselves. So they may lose the ability to define and analyse complex issues by themselves.

There are likely many white people in modern day slavery.

There are still black people in modern day slavery be treated unfairly by other black people.

There are women in modern day slavery being exploited by women, men ,black and white.

There are many people who are/were/have been in slavery. Exploited by people of different religions, sees, races, cultures.

Hence my point. Slavery is wrong. Fortunately many people are/ have done something about it. Mainly white people, it seems.

I agree  of course. Just to mention, for example, how Christians have been enslaved by Muslims in Arab and Turkish kingdoms/empires around the Mediterranean Sea.

However, the replies are made by ChatGPT according to the local context. For example  I am on holiday in Spain and don't get exactly the same reply as the one quoted by the poster who made the test.

The questions to ChatGPT have been asked in a specific context (the US), and the replies made in this context.

In this context, it's black people who have been considered as inferior for centuries, and to some extent still are.

Hence the reply.

In this context, white people have not been considered as inferior by other ethnicities, quite the opposite indeed. (Some white people are considered as inferior but other white people, but that's another story)

"Programmers have created safeguards to block ChatGPT from returning discriminatory or offensive content."

I'm not suggesting that nobody knows it is happening.  It is clearly by design.

I don't really want to post too much about it, as it is quite a sensitive topic, but you can quickly and easily search for details about what chatgpt will or won't say.

Thanks.  I believe these safeguards are to restrict bias in the data (there's a lot of racist stuff published on the internet, and AI incorporates everything it is fed).  I assume if racist ideas can be blocked, others could as well.

Not a problem for me, I have no intention to use AI to answer moral or cultural questions.  I think its greatest potential is in speeding up advances in science.  It could expedite research in general, but questions should be asked that result in answers that are verifiable; "X was established on Y date" is verifiable, "X is bad" is opinion and therefore not verifiable.

AI can be a useful tool, but people should not expect AI to do there thinking for them.
