Not gonna happen pal, Thailand has very little that would entice anyone with the cash to arm the masses. Any serious rebellion would be put down immediately. I agree that banning Facebook is likely to create mass protests but a revolt? Naa.

I don’t care for the FB site, however rather than trying shut it down, find a way to tax it’s users or pay a user fee in Thailand.

 

They could always get Interpol involved, however it did not work for the Red Bull Brat, so little chance it would discourage freckle face.

A few years ago Facebook could not be connected to from Thailand for about 25 minutes. People went crazy! I dread to think what would happen if it was permanent. Then the government will really see what it is to have the population turn against you.

About as far from being Russian as is possible and I know exactly how things work in Thailand.

Firstly, its unlikely that this guy will get the courts to ban Facebook. Secondly, if he does, there will be some protests but anything more serious will be put down brutally.

 

I was in Ratchaprasong on the skywalk in May 2010, I've seen what happens when the Thai Army calls time on demonstrations and riots first hand - have you?

A big part of the scams is Thais using the culturally and educationally ingrained behaviors like blind, unquestioning obedience to perceived authority to take advantage of other Thais. Yet the government has not taken action on their end to foster critical thinking in society...

This is not the first time Thailand has threatened to ban Facebook, as a similar threat took place in May of 2017 by the then Military Junta led by Prayut Chan-O’-Cha. That threat was over website links providing incorrect “misinformation” according to the government that Thailand demanded to be removed.

People INTERACT on it, not gossip. And I've found it very useful in my business for being able to contact people. I've also been able to use it to contact old friends and to video chat with people I know, including family. The fact that you, clearly, have no idea how to reap the benefits of it doesn't mean that it isn't useful to billions of others. There are reasons so many use it, even if you are unable to see them.
