Working on repairing a wood pellet press at a local plant in Dong Ling Village, Narong got caught in the machinery during a lunch break. He was entangled by a rotating metal screw used for transporting sawdust into the press, resulting in fatal injuries. The incident left his coworkers in a state of shock. Before the accident occurred, Narong had intended to mark his upcoming birthday on October 7 by completing his tasks and enjoying quality time with his family in Nakhon Ratchasima. Picture: Siam Rath Narong's wife, Mrs. Charuni, revealed that the cause of the accident remains unclear. The company simply classified it as a "workplace accident." She shared that her husband had always emphasized the need for caution when working with machinery. Married for four years and childless, the couple had dreams of building a home together. With 4 people on a pallet raised by forklift truck. It is waiting to go wrong. In "my" country, you are fired on the spot then, doing so. Even just 1 person doing so. Those lovely white sneakers are they really safety shoes? I bet they arent. Working, maintenance on running open screw? Fired. In this case not needed anymore. Sad, RIP You see in pic 2 even the guy stuck in the trench. Then they work with a torch? Dont make to much dust then, otherwise you have dust explosion. Guy up with it, looks dressed up for fire, in danger, just tiny step back, trip and he can go all the way down. No railings, no flat floor, no safety harnas. Would they have electrically locked the machine by taking out the fuses, that is the only way? Probably not, maybe just put switch on off. Making up procedures in Thailand doesnt work, as you have no one to enforce it. Many times maintenance personnel work on running machines. Just the thought of being grabbed and seeing and feeling your body getting pulled in with no escape makes me feel ill. RIP Indeed... one item of clothing snagged and that auger would have draged him in, slowly but powerfully.... As another poster mentioned no lock-out... fast tracking a repair with complacency and without considering the consequences of what a simple lapse in concentration can lead to. A giant squashing machine that compresses wood chips, or a human, to a height of 1cm? Spinning blades? A mincer? In countries with HSE rules would there have been an extra person standing next to the shutdown button?
