If you drive an older, polluting car anywhere in London, starting today you’ll have to pay a princely charge of £12.50 ($15.70) per day.

In 2019, the British capital became the first city in the world to introduce a round-the-clock Ultra Low Emission Zone, inside which cars and other vehicles have to meet tough emissions standards or face a toll.

That followed the implementation of road pricing in 2003 aimed at reducing congestion in central London.

The tolls and fines fund a scrappage program -  grants of up to £2,000 ($2,517) to every Londoner with a car or motorcycle that doesn’t comply with ULEZ standards.

The ULEZ was expanded in 2021 and today it is widened again, this time to cover the city’s outer boroughs and suburbs.

The charge applies 24/7 to gasoline cars generally first registered before 2006 and diesel cars registered before October 2015.

The CDC have said that diesel exhaust, and other air pollution are a high cause of lung cancer in non smokers after secondhand smoke and Radon gas

A ULEZ should be introduced in Thai cities like Bangkok if people were given enough notice and financial support together with an increased investment public transport. Do you agree?

Woke madness in action!

Destroying a perfectly good ICE and building a new EV has got to be worse for the environment than letting the ICE run.

Preventing lung cancer is woke?

You don't need to buy an EV

The charge applies to gasoline cars generally first registered before 2006 and diesel cars registered before October 2015.

Pollution poses greater risk to all human life than tobacco, alcohol: report

Air pollution reduces the average life span globally by 2.3 years, making it the “greatest external threat to human life expectancy,” according to the annual Air Quality Life Index report published Tuesday.

Researchers from the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago found that the effects of merely inhaling unclean air were comparable to smoking, but caused over three times the damage of alcohol use or unsafe water and over 5 times that of car crash injuries.
