cocoonclub
Can anyone recommend a specialist for tinnitus? I’m not very hopeful as I’ve read that it’s likely gonna be chronic if it doesn’t go away after a few weeks (it’s more than two months now). But at least I wanna rule out anything serious. Im in Bangkok. I visited one ENT at BNH who removed wax from the ears, did a hearing test (largely fine except some minor hearing loss in some frequency) and prescribed 6 weeks of meds that didn’t do anything. KannikaP
I have had mild tinnitus for years, a ringing in my ears, most noticeable when it is quiet, first thing in the morning. I have been told there is nowt you can do about it. After over 40 years on the road as a musician and getting on a bit now, 75, I cannot hear above 11000 kHz.
Popular Post eboy
I've had tinnitus for maybe 20 years. When it was first diagnosed, in the US, the doctor told me the main thing is to not allow it to bother me. And he was right, it doesn't bother me. By all means get checked out and make sure it's nothing more serious, but if it's ordinary tinnitus, forget about it and get on with your awesome life. :-) I assume any competent ENT doc can check you out. Since you're in Bangkok, try Bangkok Hospital. In my experience they're the best hospital in BKK. 5
simple1
As said above there is no current cure for tinnitus. I've had tinnitus for about ten years. The only effective relief for me is ear pods with music, listening to TV/radio, concentrating on reading etc. Fortunately I am able to sleep by relaxing, However, if tinnitus is making it difficult to sleep take a mild anti depressant to assist relaxation.
Sheryl
https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/doctors/Saowaros-Patarapak She is in great demand so there may be a wait list to see her. Some types of tinnitus have a detectable underlying cause and some do not. Sometimes there are treatments that can help and sometimes there are not. rwill
I've had really bad tinnitus for decades now. They never have been able to do anything to help it. Too many concerts I guess. There must be tons of Thais with it judging how they love to blare distorted music for kilometers at wats and festivals. All the money grab hospitals will do is put you thru a series of expensive tests and then tell you its the inner ear and nothing they can do, (except go and spend your money) 1 1
BoganInParasite
Had it for 21 years nows. Still remember the morning I woke up with the sound of metallic cicadas in my head. Got myself checked and had no accompanying loss of hearing but no solutions were offered. There is a ton of videos on YT of seemingly credible medical qualified folks suggesting solutions. Most seem to be around training the brain to tune out the noise. I've been too lazy to try...for other reasons. Seems being caused by underlying and fixable medical conditions is a small minority.

LukKrueng
After being exposed to a very loud noise Manny years ago my ear started "ringing". When I was checked at a hospital I was told that the eardrum was damaged, although very minor damage. It took a while to recover, but there is a loss of hearing (certain frequencies) and the "ringing" never stopped. I was told by the doctors that since the nerve was damaged, there's nothing they can do to stop it. It was very difficult to fall asleep in the first few month, but after a while I kinda "got used" to it and most of the times I don't notice it. Of course now that I'm writing about it the ringing is louder than usual, but it will fade later...
mstevens
Tinnitus is a really tricky one to get on top of because it's so hard to diagnose the root cause. I had it bad when I gut issues and when I finally got on top of those, tinnitus went away. I would later learn I had chronic inflammation that was most likely the cause. From someone who has had tinnitus for over 3 decades now because of exposing myself to loud music in a club I was working at for several years: There's absolutely nothing you can do about it. If you had it for that long, it's gonna stay. The good news is, you'll get used to it and eventually will only hear it I f you focus on it. It will also stop to annoy you. Took me about 3 months or so, if I remember correctly. It's been a long time. Maybe they'll be able to invent some sort of noise canceling device in the near future, but honestly, once you're used to it, it becomes a non-issue. The first few weeks were the worst for me because it kept me from falling asleep and I let that get to me, but eventually you just gotta accept and learn to love with it and move on. But there's other causes for tinnitus as well other than loud noises, maybe that can be made to go away. I've never looked into that. paulbrow
Hate to be a downer but based on my experience and everyone I know with it, simply accept it and be prepared to live with it. Save your money and don't believe any of the miracle cures out there, none of them work, again, based on my wasted money and experience.
cocoonclub
Appreciate everyone’s responses. It’s not easy to accept that this may be chronic but that’s what I read online too. It started when I went through immense stress, anxiety and panic attacks from life changes, so I somewhat hoped it would go away when I feel better. And I think the tinnitus itself may actually be something I could ignore and live with since most of the time the general noise of the environment is masking it. But there’s also the constant pressure on my ears as if I was diving or on an airplane. I keep making chewing or swallowing actions but it seems the pressure is constant. Popular Post Mark Nothing
The specialist I contact is God via prayer. Just ask for what you want. Simple is better. My tinnytitus was greatly improved by this strategy. The answer I received was using natural medicine, urine. Applied into ears daily. And it went away. Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives. The one who seeks finds. And to the one who knocks, the door shall be opened.
