The confusion from last year’s delisting in Thailand, was the result of no proper legislation being in force at the time

and no proper legislation being in force at the time was the result of having idiots in power

I wouldn't get too worked up with anything this new puppet has to say it is all smoke and mirror. Their so call constitution doesn't allow any PM to do anything in is all in their mind that they can.

If he had the power would have just did a photo op behind his desk pen in hand strike it down.

But reality with half ass enforcement with everything else it will still continue.

With Anutin, health minister back he authorized the use was he the real PM,  and not the puppet Chan O,  just talk the can is open impossible to go back.

So what the PM is saying he may apply the law as it currently stands and turning a blind-eye may end.

Recreational use is illegal.

Marijuana can only be used for medicinal purposes and dispensaries have to check your prescription, which you can probably get very easily.

That is the law currently, although it is ignored.

If so he must now allocate many more of his police force to make sure of it, in my opinion, wrong decision, after allowing Thai people to grow, use and sell now he comes up with this...

Just wait till his boss finds out how he himself can make big money out of it and it will be all legal. They'll probably make complicated rules and laws as to who can grow\sell - rules that only the boss can comply with, and then it'll be ok

That is not correct. There is a perceived loophole in the law being that the legislation refers to extracts for medicinal purposes and silent on flower, bud, etc. It was that loophole and no ability or willingness to provide regulation of non extract products that opened the door to the current unregulated availability for recreational purposes.

What you say is true in what the law says can be sold and those clauses are silent on flower, however, the law also says it is a narcotic, and if it’s a narcotic, then it is illegal to take for recreational purposes, that is the law.

As I said it is a perceived loophole that the govt has not addressed whether it’s “the law” or not. As they say perception is reality..

Pot seems to have arrived at the same place as prostitution, concerning which if you ask any of the top guys what they think they would no doubt say it's illegal and they are personally against it. Another elephant of no enforcement sitting in the center of the room. The Thai system.

I walked on some less familiar streets last night and saw no less than 3 new pot shops that I swear were not there 2 weeks ago. All small but shiny and well lit (no pun intended). Interesting times indeed, and I can't even guess where it will go from here.

That won't please (Currently) Deputy Prime MInister Anutin - but maybe he saw it coming! :-

Minister of Public Health
In office
10 July 2019 – 1 September 2023

Amazing Thailand, where the populous overwhelmingly vote to get rid of the old guard like Anutin & Thammanat, only to have them reappear as Deputy PM and as minister.

Let's compare how many people who engage in the use of cannabis are arrested for violent crimes, and how many are arrested for violent crime while under the influence of alcohol.

Clearly alcohol is the big winner by far. Therefore if we're going to make cannabis illegal, common sense dictates alcohol should be made illegal as well. Don't be a hypocrite if your an avid supporter of alcohol, you should be as supportive of making both illegal. Live and let live!

Anybody have any idea what the current real regs on growing are? 15 plants?

This is somewhat vague right now. AFAIK, there is no enforcement.

You're supposed to register via the Plook Ganja app.

The CCA (draft legislation) said "no more than 15 plants" (and 5 rai of hemp).

Obviously if you are a registered commercial grower then you can probably grow as many plants as you want.

It’s not a narcotic.

Cannabis flower was completely removed from the narcotics list in June last year.

It is only legal if THC content is below 0.2% I don’t think anyone can use that recreationally.

So after allowing many thais to buy the drug legally they are going to remove the legal supply.

This will mean thais who are most likely addicted will buy it illegally welcoming in drug dealers and gangs. Brilliant move. Well thought out this one

"addicted"  !!!  what on earth are you talking about??  You really should refrain from commenting on matters about which you know nothing
