Why do you choose Bangkok to retire?
It has more and better of everything. Best part is...no salt water and no sand. The Thai are seem more refined, and somewhat international. I find the locals are more attractive and on the slimmer side. -

Illegal Foreign Tour Guides Exploit Thai Visa Loopholes
1) The Thai "guide" likely could not speak Russian. Therefore, the Russian tourists could not understand the Thai guide's warnings and instructions. 2) "Forfeits tens to hundreds of billions of Thai Baht". Bulls.hite, if Russian tour guides were allowed, it may well bring even more Russian tourists to Thailand, knowing they can get better tours from a guide who understands their needs and speaks their language. Could make this so called, protectionist commentary rules up. Suck it up Thailand, and licence foreigners as tour guides. Watch the visitor numbers, and revenues increase! -

Food Deliver Apps - Best and Cheapest?
I've never noticed any additional fee for cash or credit. If paying cash, you don't need paper money; just scan pay. In the app, you can select cash as payment, and when the driver arrives, please tell them to scan pay. But if you're a tourist and don't have a Thai bank account, you're limited to paying only paper money. Grab almost all the time, but a few times, I used Lineman. -

Reduced tax on wine has it happened anywhere on Phuket island?
I guess everyone has found out already why the price reductions in Makro. They are sold out already, and Makro will not sell those products in the future, so even smaller assortment will be available, and fewer reasons to visit Makro. -

Why all the negativity?
Most of your experiences have all been done by most. Kind of like beating a dead horse. -

I am an Ape Man. Et toi aussi ?
Dear Folks, I know that, other than Jeff Beck, probably THE KINKS is the one of the pivotally most important bands of the last hundred years.....not to mention Jeff Beck's music being different, of course. The thing is: The KINKS are still very relevant and useful, today, in Thailand. This evening, so suddenly, I became blasted by some disgusting caterwauling, which locals call "music", which almost caused me to upchuck, but luckily.... I had access to some of the greatest music in the world, on my Google Drive, which I played, in order to mask this "cat music", which was hitting me from all sides, and... Up and Down, too. The KINKS music, played through my expensive headphones, was the only thing that saved me. Next time, though, i will be prepared. NEXT TIME: I will have ordered some decent noise-cancelling headphones. Hope I don't need to pay too much for them. But, at any price, living here in Thailand.... The cost will be worth it. These days, I think that the noise-canceling tech has progressed far enough, to the point that an expensive set can cancel out Music Festivals....or.... Am I wrong about this? I will pay through the nose for a good set of noise-cancelling phones. ========= Still, having been blasted with Garbage Music, from about one kilometer away, and feeling the sound pressure of it, as if it were being blasted from my own garden...and suffering much as a result... I am thankful to the KINKS, from yesteryear, for helping me to partially mask the din of today's Thailand world. Have you used expensive noise-canceling headphones to cancel the local din from Music Festival Noise? Do they work? Is the expense worth it? And, who is the APE, anyway? Me? Just because I choose not to listen to Ape Music? Still, each to one's own. I prefer JS Bach, above all other music. Yet. apparently, others around here, do not. In case you do not know... If you are new to Thailand.... THIS is the season for Garbage Music being blasted everywhere in this country. So.... Enjoy. This blasting is likely to last for about 4 or 5 more months, at least...until..... The Raining Season. Sure, it will!!!!! Enjoy. Gamma
