webfact
In what promises to be a real feast for the eyes, the newly opened digital immersive exhibition “Monet & Friends Alive Bangkok” brings the best impressionist artworks by Claude Monet and other prominent artists of the era to the Attraction Hall on the 6th floor of ICONSIAM in the Thai capital. The exhibition, which continues through January 7, 2024, showcases 3,500 artworks of Claude Monet, one of the world’s most influential French Impressionist artists, alongside contributions from 14 other talented painters including Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Paul Cézanne and Edgar Degas. The artworks are integrated on the theme “An Immersive Adventure into French Impressionism”, and promise visitors a fully immersive multi-sensory experience. Brought to Thailand by Grande Experiences, “Monet & Friends Alive Bangkok” follows the success of the previous immersive exhibition “Van Gogh Alive Bangkok” by the same producer, which partnered with Live Impact Events. This digital immersive art exhibition delivers an unparalleled fusion of entertainment and artistic wonder, transporting visitors into the captivating virtual world of 19th-century Impressionist art on over 4,000 square metres. JayBird
I take it is digital representations only, no originals here? I wonder if the quality is high enough to enjoy the details.

I spent a fair amount of time in Provence and the Cote d'Asur in the past year and saw not only many examples of this work but also a lot of the landscapes and locations that were the subjects. It's one of the most beautiful parts of the world of course, that's why so many worked and settled there, and the artists were not apologetic about searching out heart aching beauty. You have to remember that this is a time that the French middle and upper middle class was on a historic high; life was not just good, it was great. But all this changed with one catastrophic event, the First World War, which to many seemed like the end--or at least the refutation--of European Civilization. Personally I can't look at this body of work without at some point reflecting on the sadness and irony of what followed. 2 1
