I would think this is more of a sexual perversion than mental. These people can function in a modern society fairly well. They have made a conscious choice to flaunt their debauchery to a moral society in the hopes that they will be accepted. Unfortunately, many have accepted this depravity in the name of inclusion.

Of all the issues facing the US and the world today, it seems to me transgenderism is not high up on the list---save for POTUS-wannabes who want to pander to the trumpist fringe who live for outrage.

 

I accept that for biological reasons, some people are drawn to the same sex, some are attracted to both, and some feel as if their being is at odds with their physical body. It is not a choice.

 

That being said, I do think being what is now been given the term non-binary is a fad. Bill Maher made a joke of the trend by graphing the changes in sexual orientation over the last fifty years, ending with "if current trends continue, by 2050 we will all be gay or lesbian". I don't know the true % of humans who feel they're in the wrong body, but I doubt the % is as high as the number now claiming it, caught up in the fad. I also think some parents are caught up in the fad and want their child to be 'special', as in transgender, so they can boast or get sympathy from friends, post their 'journey' on FB or other social media, etc.

 

I remember being young, going through puberty, etc., and being confused. I wasn't confused about my gender or sexual orientation, I was just confused. Raging hormones will do that. Everyone goes through that period, and I suspect at that tender stage and age many young people could be influenced by someone telling them what that outside person thinks is their issue, when the actual issue is just the rush of hormones that come with puberty. For that reason, I would not think it is a good idea to use drugs or surgery to alter someone's gender physique before the age of consent.

I have nothing against gays, ladyboys or all the current trends. Everybody has their rights and must be treated with due respect and no discrimination.

 

But encouraging teens, kids to go through sex-gender changes should be considered a crime.

 

A child is not responsible and cannot decide any gender change.

 

Even a young adult can have confused ideas. Such sex changes should not be encouraged amongst teens as many countries in Europe are promoting.

 

The (worthless) UN should ask member nations to implement domestic laws  that require at least 30 years of age before doing all these costly mutations of gender.

 

It is becomming a racket that is making billions for the opportunists who offer the hormonal and surgery services.

The CDC document you refer to is an infantile mish-mash of meaningless drivel like "everyone has a gender identity" which will come as news to anyone who lives in the sane world.

 

The document doesn't "refute" anything, unless it is the concept that the CDC is worth listening to about anything.

 

It's all an attempt to normalize the idea of "gender fluidity", another deluded and meaningless term which only makes sense to people who have not yet emerged from primordial narcissism and think that something is true just because they want it to be true.

Younger children can start hormone treatment earlier BUT must have the consent of themselves (obviously) their parents and most importantly, a qualified health professional who needs to confirm gender dysphoria (a recognized mental disorder). 

And also importantly, the numbers involved are minute; in the UK (my home country) there was 355 full sex changes from April 2021 to March 2022, in the USA it was approx. 10,000 but importantly, only 56 we’re under 18 and were diagnosed with severe gender dysphoria and suicidal tendencies. 
This idea that children are getting their bits chopped off is just absolute nonsense, perpetuated by an increasing number of irrelevant GOP candidates dog whistling to the ignorant and ill-informed. 
It’s a medical issue better handled by medical professionals.
