War between China and the US

And the CCP can afford to wait…, but not pretend. Hence the lack of diplomatic recognition with most all UN member states that continues to grow when the CCP applies pressure in the form of economic assistance and bilateral agreements.  I reckon the US and allies originally supported Taiwan because of our support of Chiang Kai-shek during the war.  It did not cost the US much to do so.  The West may care less about the island except for the historical accident of the KMT fleeing there. Witness Hong Kong - dying from a thousand cuts. The same is, i think, the likely fate of Taiwan , firefight or no.

fes but then there is the semiconductor issue

"Taiwan produces over 60% of the world's semiconductors and over 90% of the most advanced ones. "

https://www.economist.com/special-report/2023/03/06/taiwans-dominance-of-the-chip-industry-makes-it-more-important

Do you see why this might become a problem if it comes under the control of China?

  • But it has at least one advantage over the US,  China has a huge aircraft carrier named China, that is unsinkable  and is stationed 100 km from Taiwan.

America will lose.  They have limited money; whereas, China has infinite time.  They will just sit there eating frogs and then when the US are on their last drop of oil they will start fighting.

  • We are all doomed.   Seriously, why worry? What can you do? How do you prepare for something like that? I don't fancy investing in a fallout shelter (and will probably arrive faulty from Laz

All original technology came from the US.

We MUST take it back...ASAP.

Formosa is dead.

And Formosa will die without TSMC.

The sooner the better.

As my fellow-alumnus Musk stated correctly....

We should NEVER go to war over a stinking island.

Have you ever been there?

What is it that you like about that ruined island?

This is probably mostly bs.

This guy is being paid by US govt to tell the masses what they want people to know.

Also, is China a "threat" when they export most of their goods to the US?

But that's neither here nor there,.

Which part of his theory do you suspect to be BS and we cam critically examine it.

Here is a GREAT IDEA....

Why can't we send all the Farang malcontents living in Thailand....over to the island of Taiwan?

10 seconds there, and they will be dying to return to Thailand.

But will we let them return?

NO.

Taiwan has very little tourism because...as tourists quickly learn....

Taiwan is just one stinking place from Keelung to OuLanBi....

And even down to Green Island, which was a prison for political prisoners.

I have been there, and there is great fishing, due to the currents.

But now, the entire Green Island has been turned to garbage, just like Taiwan.

By the way....  When flying into Green Island, if one looks down just before landing, one can see the ground littered with aircraft that have crashed there.

But, that's the way they like it on Green Island (LvDao)....

They don't much care if they crash during landing.

We had customers in Taiwan and plants in China I visited now and then, and I much preferred Taiwan.

I am VERY aware of the problem.

I have been VERY aware of the problem since 1985.

Don't blame me.

Who was it that let things get WAY out of hand?

Any thoughts?

This is the way they land in Taiwan.....

And, landing upside down in Taiwan is perfectly acceptable.

image.png.25c357a1a19e847cf871c3e62820e420.png

But the problem ensues when Taiwanese military pilots, who fly commercial jets for China Airlines, try to land upside down in HK or Okinawa....

These Taiwanese pilots are REAL Hot Shots!

if you were aware , then why did you ask?

Are you off your medication?

What we really need is a total Chinese blockade of Taiwan.

Taiwan would fold and crumple like the Strawberry Tribe that they truly are!!!!

What is the status of the Chinese navy compared to the US navy?

The Chinese navy has more boats. But very few are meant for deep water, and most have a limit of 1500 km. in ideal condition, not in a warlike environment. And they have very few deep water ports. The US has 800 deep water ports, US military personnel are stationed in 160 countries, all over the world, and they have 11 nuclear aircraft carriers, 72 destroyers, 17 cruisers, 50 attack submarines, 14 ballistic missile subs, and much more. Close to 500 ships total. China is severely limited in range, while the US has ships that can stay at sea for 4 years at a time. In terms of the airspace, China is pathetic. The Chinese lack 4th and 5th generation fighter jets, and advanced drones. They have one aging bomber, while the US reigns supreme in the air. The US has 13,233 aircraft, many of them are very advanced. China has 3,260 and they lack the top strata of fuel tankers, limiting their range severely. They only have three air tankers, compared to 625 for the US. The differences are glaring. Also, China has just over 900 helicopters, compared to over 5,400 for the US, many of them very advanced. Not much point in going into the nuclear superiority, which is 13x greater than China. If it comes to that, all bets are off, but those 5,244 warheads are quite a deterrent. So are the 1,419 strategic warheads and missiles.

Like in Vietnam or like with Hitler invading  Russia during the winter.  They had the big guns but no food or fuel and they froze to death.

Even if America dropped every single nuclear bomb on China, there will still be millions of Chinese ready to fight.

yeah so he was in the US military and you don't think his buddies are all CIA?

China exports most of its stuff to the US. What "threat" are they? If they wipe out the US, no one will buy their crap.

Unless the manufacturing shifts to Mexico or even shifts back to the US (ie AI automated factories). Then maybe US and China will be enemies in the traditional sense? But now it seems there are too interdependent.

And therefore, I don't trust this guy.

So if the CIA is critical of the US , then I guess he could be a spook.

Total BS.

Nuclear warheads are a deterrent to nobody, if not to EVERYBODY.

Nuclear warheads are useless for waging war.

Or, have you never heard of nuclear winter?

Not that I care, personally, anymore....

These days, I just hope that I can live long enough to see the end of Organized Human Civilization.

This will be something to see, before I die.

In fact, its on my bucket list!

Sad stuff.

People reach the later years in life and wish that humanity collapses because their lives didn't work out the way they wanted.

No worries, though.

Amphibians will definitely survive.

When a general declares that he thinks there will be war in two years, we all know that he has a guaranteed job in a major military supply company with contracts lined up at the end of his military career.

For Taiwan here too we will fight China to the last Taiwanese, If they lose the war it's all their fault, same usual.

I think the US Navy is down less than 300 active-duty ships, and they are having trouble staffing those.

Navy Raises Battle Force Goal to 381 Ships in Classified Report to Congress - USNI News

The bigger issue is how fast can they be replaced. During WW2 Kaiser could build a Liberty ship (about the size of a Zumwalt Class Destroyer) in as little as five days, and at Willow Run, Ford could produce a B-24 heavy bomber every 63 minutes.

China is calmly waiting for the US to wage war on itself with the most stupid decisions possible, see the sanctions against Russia. This is how an empire dies slowly but surely. What is the use of having the most powerful armed force today when there is no more money to entertain it, the collapse will be inevitable in the long or medium term or even quickly like the former Soviet empire

You will bruise so easily when Xi comes knocking on your door.

The Taiwanese army has NEVER been tested in battle.

It's knees are weak.

The most difficult thing these toy soldiers encounter in life is how to find the remote control for their ACs.

I KNOW the Taiwanese boys.

They are about as tough as rice porridge 稀飯.

They have been coddled their entire lives.

No respect for those Taiwanese boys.

Sure....

They practice putting bandages on each other, preparing for casualties.

And, they have fun touching each other when bandaging groin wounds.

But when Xi comes knocking, these boys will cave faster than you can say....

Whatever.

They talk REAL big while hiding under Uncle Sam's big umbrella.

We need to move ALL semiconductor production out of Taiwan.

And, we need to do it NOW.

Taiwan is completely expendable.

Several Taiwan companies have plans to build large microchip and other factories in the US, they have already been under construction for some years with huge investments in billions also with US state funds and will be operational soon within two years
