1. The ignore button is flawed. If you ignore somebody they shouldnt be able to read your comments. Would stop a lot of the stalking. They had this on another forum.

 

2. If someone starts a topic about X and a poster ignores the topic and just attacks the OP with their first post that is trolling. You see it a lot but nothing happens. People who whinge on a topic don't belong on forums.

 

3. I think emojis cause problems. Get rid of them. The biggest trolls use emojis as a form of trolling. It's childish. 10yo stuff.

 

4. I see lots of off topic posts never get removed. Discuss the topic or get deleted.

Some posters would end up debating with themselves as they have half the forum on ignore, maybe if you cannot handle the truth or criticism a public forum is not the place for you.🥴

Agree with 1, 2 and 4 in your post. I will check what improvements can be done in regards to ignoring member.

 

3) I disagree with you here. Emojis is a cornerstone and is very important for Social media to increase engagement and it accelerates traffic. Yes, some member are abusing the emojis.

Nobody is forced to read or respond. The posters who aren't interested in said topic and abuse the OP are trolls. Just ignore the topic. I've only had problems with 3 people. One guy left. The other 2 are still here. I told them to stop many times. Yet they still stalk me. Other people arent like that and discuss topics.

Example, I wrote a post where I made a joke about myself with a image (old man with a walking cane) I am old and after surgery, I needed a walking cane. This was lost on moderator, and post removed by a certain mod that members consider 'extremely strict'.

 

Moderators should have a lifespan, as they become judgmental and over time some act too strict.

Other forums required a minimum of 2 mods to agree, before action was taken. Only Admins had the power to ban.

 

Luckily, some mods are excellent, balanced moderation, have a good sense of humor and make jokes with the members. 

 

The Handbook is Excellent read, and toxicity is on a all time high, currently.

 

Community Pub should be hidden from public view, and access only on request from members.

 

Your post doesn't make any sense.

You don't like a certain type of content, just don't participate in the thread.

Period.

False! There is no paid member postings on this platform. We do have some paid staff posting news stories and social media content and curating content though. Please stop accuse us for things that is not true.

How about a better way for users to vote on a thread (or individual posts)?  For example Thumbs Up or Down - as with YouTube before it also became too controlling.  The ratio between these can be useful in deciding whether to bother with a thread or post.  Useful feedback also for those posting.

There is a positive side to this forum, it’s nice to see who is giving a thumbs up. If you want to give a negative reaction, then own it, there is no shame. Maybe the admin see this as antagonistic - it wasn’t for the lifespan of TV and the initial period of AN. Why the change?

If "you" change moderation policy I think it would be good to publish information about that so that we are aware of the changes.

I was suspended a couple of times for little things which I would never have imagined could be a problem.

Now I don't post certain things anymore because I don't want to be suspended again - and only for that reason.

It's sad when members have to learn to self-censor even harmless jokes to avoid aggressive moderators. 

Moderation should be purely neutral and without bias, though unfortunately it isn’t always the case. Some forum members are easily offended by the smallest things that brush up against their ideology, sense of superiority or how their world view is formed whether broad or narrow and others are not bothered at all. Not sure if perfection is attainable, though oversight and education in the management can certainly get close to it.

In my view the one sub forum that should be totally serious is the Visa Forum.

People rely on it for correct information.

 

Unfortunately since the sad passing of UbonJoe it has become a pit of false information and petty bickering.

Joe use to jump on it hard, as did lopburi 3 in the past.

 

Needs to be strictly moderated unlike the pub forum that can be a lot more loose.

I think there is the problem. Thaivisa was going along nicely.

 

Then "ideas man" Dan came in with all theories and krap and re branded it "Aseannow" which has been a utter and complete flop.

The Singapore forum just one example of many. Despite having more expats in Singapore than in Thailand it is lucky to get a single post every 6 months.

 

It is about as popular as his Dans Dating site which douesnt have any girls.

Good at talking but he actually delivers literally nothing.

 

He has ran it into the ground. Meanwhile ironically he is out there tiktokking daily about "how to be successful in Thailand"

Since George has come back on board there has been a significant improvement in my opinion. At least he has stopped the slide.
