Last month witnessed a surge in consumer confidence for the third consecutive month, reaching its highest point in 44 months, according to the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC).

Factors contributing to this uplift include the government’s initiatives to curb living costs, a boost in foreign arrivals, and a revival in exports.

The UTCC reported that the consumer confidence index rose to 60.2 in October, marking an increase from 58.7 in September, 56.9 in August, and 55.6 in July.

Thanavath Phonvichai, president of the UTCC, attributed the continuous uptick in consumer confidence to the formation of a new government and its strategic policies aimed at reducing living costs, such as cutting electricity and fuel prices and implementing various stimulus packages.

“Consumers see increased stability in domestic politics over the longer term after the formation of the new coalition government, which successfully dissolved opposing political factions.”

Strange how most Thai I know say life is still an up-hill battle.

This may be the most fictitious post I've read in the past month, it's totally made up, there is no uptick in consumer confidence right now, people are very worried about the economy, the economy continues to suffer not just in Thailand but elsewhere too. So this is complete nonsense.

Go out to any new car dealer in Thailand and ask them about new car sales right now, talk to any real estate broker and ask them about condo sales right now.

Sometimes you just have to say no to nonsense.

You can dress a turd in roses but it's stll going to smell like a turd.

A lot of them have probably already borrowed and spent the 10,000 Baht that may or may not arrive in their digital wallets, that will have given their consumer confidence a boost all right.

Look for next month's headline:

"Consumer confidence in Thailand drops to 84 month low"

as the loan sharks start knocking on their doors and the government still hasn't disbursed a bent satang, lol.

It must be the most BS index ever invented. Consumer confidence? What the hell is it based on? How do they calculate it? Here's one explanation...

5 questions. 1 of 3 possible answers to each. Utterly meaningless as you could answer anything to any of them. A complete nonsense for economists and Bloomberg. They go mad for this rubbish.
