Chinese Police to Patrol Tourist Hotspots in Thailand to Boost Tourist Confidence, Says Thai Prime Minister

One glaring and major issue is that Chinese Police consider any and every Chinese person a criminal if they criticize, condemn  or complain about the Chinese government or the CCP. They are also considered criminals if they don't cooperate and provide information to Chinese security agencies.

Thailand shouldn't be allowing Chinese Police to determine who is a criminal. This issue has nothing to do with protecting only Chinese tourists. Chinese police are famous for creating false facts about their citizens, like fraud, robbery, extortion, but the person's only crime is criticizing Beijing. Even worse, the Chinese Police will come after, and arrest, relatives of known Beijing criticizers.

There is absolutely no need for any Chinese Police in Thailand. Chinese Police can hand over their complete electronic wanted criminal file to Thailand without leaving their offices in China. Thailand needs to be super careful that all evidence, is also handed over to support the Chinese criminals, and the files should also be verified through Thai Police investigations.

Also there are many dual citizens with Chinese passports, who left China after criticizing Beijing and the Police are hunting for them in many different countries. Lots of people left Hong Kong and became UK or Canadian citizens, but according to Chinese law, they are still Chinese citizens and are wanted for "criminal" activity or perhaps their relatives, friends or associates are also criminals by association or blood.

One important reason for Chinese Police to be in Thailand is to befriend Thai Police and develop friendships and relationships. This will lead to Thai Police automatically doing what the Chinese want, without safe guards and without doing due diligence, especially if favours or envelopes are delivered.

Maybe there are big fat envelopes changing hands if any Chinese Police start working in Thailand.

Here are the keys to the Kingdom dear leader Xi.

I mean I cannot write how much I agree with this statement.

Every Thai should be absolutely humiliated, disgusted, horrified that China is policing in Thailand.  But you know how that will go - no need for me to ruin the ending!

Maroons!

Same with farang police, Now Chinese police.  Of course it won't help Chinese tourism. And hopefully they won't be to pregidist against westerners. But, I would not bet on it. Another nail in the coffin for western expats and tourists.

Will they police Chinese casinos and gold shops?? Or pick up the butts off the beaches after  each tour bus leaves

That raises an interesting question:  Will Chinese police be allowed to arrest Chinese citizens in Thailand who violate Chinese laws but not Thai laws?

So, why not bring in the Chinese under the same Tourist Police organization conditions? I get the feeling this is to be a "horse of a different color" (or in Thai context, "Says, same but different").

Well that was my thought too, if we have a system already, use it.... although both these elements were Western based, and I wonder if they would slide under that control well. Do they have the English skills...quite a few of these TPV/FPA guys are polyglots.

May I correct you we have had western volunteers not necessarily ex-police, as an exz-copper I WAs asked if I WIshed to join, sadly their work ethics ( Thai police )are so bad I declined after one outing. The Chinese Police care little for HUMASN RIGHTS saw them operating in HK just after take over and I doubt they have improved. A silent way of handing this sovereign country opver to Chinese influence and actions.

Not sure I said they were all ex-Western police, more acting as police here. But some certainly were, so no need to correct anyone!

Silly comparison.. comparing a few farang assistants to an actual foreign police force is nonsensical.

No comparison made, I simply meant we have foreign guys working with the Thai police.....and have had for many years... do you deny that or just making silly comments yourself?

The tourist police are there to translate when problems arise .  They aren’t from one particular country, German, English speaking countries, Scandinavian. There are already Chinese speaking Thais in the police force. This is an obvious way of worming Chinese Police into Thailand .

i really hope the Thai newspapers speak up for themselves concerning Taiwan , and this new alarming news.

In reality, that is mostly what the assistants located in the stations do too, as well as helping foreigners with procedures....I also fear the Chinese going it alone in Thailand....would not trust them an inch.... I really can't see this flying beyond maybe a few joining the FPAs. How good are the Chinese speaking Thais? Generally any that are English speaking simply aren't fluent enough and hand off the foreign issues to a volunteer!

Well you're an Aussie. You should know that the AFP has had 'liaison officers' in Thailand (as in many other countries) for many years.

Basic job relates to drugs smuggling, but no doubt 'wanteds' hanging out are on the list also ...

even in your OWN words... liason.... which does NOT give them any LEGAL rights.

I think this idiotic "idea" is DOA. Thankfully.

Will be put down to some "misunderstanding" by the globe-trotting PM.

Top cop rejects presence of Chinese police in Thailand

he national police commissioner has opposed the concept of inviting Chinese police to patrol with their Thai counterparts, ostensibly to increase the safety of Chinese tourists.

Pol Gen Torsak Sukvimol said the idea could not be implemented because it involves national security, adding “I disagree with the idea as it would infringe upon Thailand’s sovereignty. Thai police are quite capable of taking care of Thai people as well as tourists.”

He also denied reports that it was the Royal Thai Police’s idea to conduct the joint patrols, explaining that “Reports that it was the Thai police’s initiative may have been a misunderstanding. What we have proposed is the setting up of a coordination centre with China, so that, when there are crimes related to China, we could exchange information about suspects and cases,” he said.

What could go wrong?

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/rcmp-chinese-police-stations-1.6862336

The RCMP says it has "shut down illegal police activity in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia" connected to so-called Chinese "police stations" — but it hasn't said whether it has made any arrests.

In April, Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino told a parliamentary committee the federal police service had taken decisive action to close down the alleged stations.

If this happened and I could get away with it, I'd be finding them everyday and getting the most touristy photo taken hugging them with the loudest shirt I could find:

WE

LOVE

USA

Images from other countries tend to indicate they only send sourpuss types.

I wonder how many I could get rotated back home.

* also, not an American.

Will chinese police be allowed to control everybody and not only chinese citizens

With weapons, as you see in the South China Sea, they are able to push their will on sovereign nations with impunity.

I suspect a few with truncheons will be stationed next to the shrimp at the buffets!

In the bar areas that I've been to on the Mainland (as opposed to HK), the police patrol with 1metre long wooden sticks to keep everything in order.

Seems to work.....there 😫

However, a later statement by a spokesman to the Prime Minister denied any patrolling would take place and only that the two forces would share information.

I though they already did.

When the trucker protest in Ottawa was broken up it was done by mercenaries who were flown in for the task.

Here the Thai rak Thai thing is real, but the locals are just vermin to the Chinese.  Farangs are even less than that, Gweilo filth.  There could be club weilding commies on Walking Street.

Gweilo is our nickname only in Honkers, to the Mainlanders we are Laowai (sic) filth.

At least the Chinese coppers can probably speak English, which seems to be a problem for many (most) of the RTP !

Like sleeping on the job, video games brown envelopes although the Chinese would prefer red, side hassles, Mia Noi's, scams etc.
