The other big story today is the Chinese police being imported to patrol tourist areas. I think that answers your question.

Reminiscent of the 2014 little green men in Crimea...

The Republic of China was created 1912 in ..... China. Back in the day, Taiwan was a Japanese colony in line with the Shimonoske agreement of 1895. The ROC government began exercising jurisdiction over Taiwan after the Japanese surrendered at the end of World War II. The continued Chinese civil war saw the loss of the mainland part of China to the communists who had established the People's Republic of China; subsequently the ROC government fled to Taiwan in 1949.

It is yet again about educated hatred in as much as you see all the other problems like racism, religion, ethnicity etc. There is hardly anyone alive today who was in a decision-making state back in 1949.

Look at those caucasian Rhodesians or South Africans or ethnic Indians in Thailand. They've been in those countries for generations yet, due to education, are considered today second class citizen.

Hence Beijing has to get to terms, that ROC and PRC are two different countries and all that rhetorics from either side is as much nonsense as the North Korean stalinism facing South Korean capitalism. If Beijing and its envoy to Thailand would have not mentioned the interview some ten days ago, hardly anyone would have noticed. Where I come from we call it "shot into their own foot"

Bow to the Emperor (Xi)!

They do it now in US too… No surprise that Thailand does this as it’s run by Chinese already.

China is nothing more than another autocrat dictatorship, same as Russia, NK, Turkey, Hungary, Cuba and some more, the number one priority for Xi when he was given the CCP leader ship was to change their (so called) of a constitution into a new  one where by he will be declared President/Emperor for life and will not be challenged  as for Taiwan it's difficult to understand his obsession with the island as it was never occupied by China thus never part of China (it was part of the Qing dynasty back in the 17th century) but similar obsession with the SCS Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Borneo, Indonesia by bullying them and anybody that doesn't follow their ideas

This self-governing island state also styles itself as the Republic of China since 1949.  and recorded at the UN under such name while the CCP is not an official member of the UN

"You all"? Speak for yourself please.

I am not here whining about the nanny state and council tax and then pretend to be shocked about Thai politics.

Thailand has historically been cautious of China, which as recently as the 60s and 70s funded a communist insurgency here. Now that their relationship is such that the military needs their assistance, and the government needs their tourists, the local diplomatic mission is flexing its muscles.

As Thaksin once said to the nation after being informed the U.N. would look into his war on drugs "The U. N. is not my father" will he or his lackeys say the same to China?

And if the Thai media refuses, then the Chinese police that Srettha is going to let operate in Thailand will arrest them.

china believes that taiwan is a part of china and therefore he sees actions by the taiwanese government as that of a rogue state - whether i agree or not it is sending a message to the thai country to support china's stance on the island or take the oppostance in supporting the us governments claim that taiwan is an independant country

China is biding it's time, but I think it will make a move on Taiwan at some point.

It do believe Taiwan is historically part of mainland China,  and China it wants it to stop trying to be an independent nation and conform to the CCP
