Can't agree more ... it works a treat with utube and removes so much clutter everywhere you browse too. Completely different internet with Ublock Origin.

uBlock Origin is your friend.

I used AdBlock, but YT detected it and asked me to unblock. I did, and then reblocked. YT then informed me that I would lose all connection if I repeated using AdBlock.

They would not accept my Australian Paypal to block ads in Thailand.

A workaround - turn off ad blockers to view some ads, then switch them back on and you'll be good to go without ads for a week or more until they block you again, then rinse and repeat. I've been watching ad-free for over a month using this method.

Yes it's free.
It is a browser extension, just search for it in your browser extensions,
or use your favorite search engine.

Which one?

uBlock Origin seems to be the one with favourable reviews. The others less so.

Mrs. Morch's AdBlock worked fine until last week or so, switched her to uBlock Origins - all is well again.

The top one, Origin.

There are some variants and some copycats. But the main one should be ok.

With uBlock Origin every couple of days click on the 3 gears and then click on Purge Caches and then Update now. Lots of discussion on Reddit about the latest ways to avoid these ads

Had it for a long time, never clicked on anything, certainly not every three days - no ads, ever.

You don't need Premium to download YT videos. Loads of free apps do it.

Yeah I went through the third party thing. YTD downloader and a few others. I just found premium much easier, and ad free.

May I ask....how many different devices can you use it on? I have 2 android phones (one is without sim card) and two tv's (one's in another location. 🤔

I have it on my phone, laptop, smart tv and the tv box attached to the tv.

Also, by logging in to my Google account, I can read my home country news site that normally requires an expensive subscription.

I paid 1590 for a yearly sub. I hate having to do these things every month.

It will be a cold day in hell before i pay Youtube for their inane adverts. As soon as they start i just press back until i am back with the programme.

The inane adds are free, you pay to not get them.

Before paying the 1590, I considered how much time I spend watching YT videos these days. How much information and entertainment they provide and compare the cost with what I used to spend on pay tv in Australia and True visions when I first came to Thailand. When I also consider Kodi where the price is that of a bit of cheap hardware, I can get everything for a fraction of what I used to pay. Entertianment is dirt cheap these days and I'm happy to be spending so little!

Oh, by the way, is it a genuine NO-commercial thing?

Or...will I still sometimes hear that 'shopee' horror, but just less often?

I ask, because I would prefer NO commercials like that ever again! 🙂

No commercials

WinX for example.

And so far you don't need any premium to avoid the silly ad videos (even interrupting while watching). Just use the right browser (wonder how long it will take until yt can block that).

Downloading is the best option as no ads and no trailing "suggestions".

yt videos should have 15 sec of frozen content or the like.

Otherwise useful content at the end might be hidden by the suggestions.

I find this even more annoying than ads before start.

Thanks Old Croc! Good to know I can use it on different devices. 👍🏻

Yes, I might go for the yearly too.

Cheers. 🙏

Old Croc (or anyone reading this), I went for the Premium 1 month trial yesterday. When I initially completed the basic info requirements, they asked about payment options.

As I don't have a credit card I went for the AIS option as my phone package is through AIS.

They didn't request more specific details about that AIS option and accepted the application for the trial etc.

All good. Love the ad free premium so far.

Problem is.....the youtube subscription is in my name, but the AIS package is in my Thai wife's name.

When it comes to starting the payments at the end of the 1 month trial, how will the payments be facilitated through AIS, especially because of the 2 names involved causing confusion?

(By the way, I would actually like to pay the  yearly fee.)

I'm a cash over the counter guy. I'm just not familiar (ok....dumb as a rock, I know!) with these more up to date, alternative online payment systems. Any advice? 🤔🙂
