She had no idea about this condition. The diagnosis happened at an unrelated event, not because of any complaints. And this was in a so called first world country. This is my point, people don't wake up one day and call 911 to rush themselves into hospital for an emergency leukemia diagnosis - it creeps up on you in the background like many cancers, you only notice it when it's already been there for years. The reason I mentioned this earlier is because I suspect the original story is full of lies and half truths and if he has leukemia then he should go and see a specialist when he's back home. Then there's the issue of his holiday - how long was this guy on holiday for? 1 year? 6 Months? 1 week?

Urged by his friend, Page, to secure coverage before departure, Penson’s hesitation due to a pre-existing knee injury has left him facing astronomical medical bills. Once again shows that don't travel anywhere without a proper travel insurance. It's a sad situation, but difficult to get sympathy for folks saving the normally quite affordable insurance cost and expect donations, is something goes wrong.
TigerGuardian Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 I wish the lad all the best, but I must say, this article raises more questions than answers. Has he actually been tested for the presence of Leukemia? There are several different medical conditions that can lower a person's blood count. Examples include bleeding in the GI track, kidney disease, cancer, cirrhosis and Rheumatoid Arthritis to name a few. Certainly a tough situation to be in and being in a government operated hospital is only making things more difficult. My thoughts and prayers goes out to him 🙏

He could be grateful that the Thai hospital, and possibly the Thai taxpayers, help him with medical care. Instead, he is complaining that the care is not as good as he wants it. If he wants first class care, then he should pay for it. But it seems he doesn't even have 10k. 1

Tissue sample taken gave normal results upon analysis.
Sydebolle Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 If a Thai has no insurance, it is wrong but no real surprise. If a traveling Caucasian arrives without travel insurance, then (s)he is an idiot. In all fairness, the Thai healthcare system needs to look after its own people (first) and seems to do it - with questionable treatment and equally challenging qualifications of some of those medics. The positive flip side of the coin though is, that Dr Thaksin's healthcare bill presently accumulating at the police hospital, where he spends his prison term, is paid for the Thai government. Latter, not having any money themselves, splurge on tax payers money. Hope that clarifies the actual situation .......
