When last I looked, Cigna was the best deal. Gen with insurance, bigger is better.

They cover me here, and I get 90 days a year of international coverage folded into that.

I think he is looking for just travel policy not general insurance (which costs much more).

@charleskerins  Who is your insurance provider in the US? As I would start by checking with them to see if they also offer travel policies.

Otherwise Seven Corners has a very good rep  and is easy to get a quote online, also unlike most yo ucan tailor it to medical only

Other possibilities:

AXA

https://www.axatravelinsurance.com/our-plans/platinum

The SE Plan which covers upo to $250,000 should suffice.

One thing to check into is whether the plan allows you to enrol after the trip has started, since it sounds like you are already in Thailand. So do, some don't.

I think you can further reduce it, if desired, by accepting a deductible and also by (if applicable) not opting for the active sports add-on (but first make sure you don't need it, of course)

I didn't take the add on , but I changed the deductible to 1,000   so it was 550$ for the coverage period.  I didn't see anything about  "One thing to check into is whether the plan allows you to enrol after the trip has started, since it sounds like you are already in Thailand. So do, some don't"   It stated that the policy goes into effect today.

A considerable savings and (assuming no problem to immediately come up with the $1,000 deductible) well worth it.

Suggest you contact them just to be sure the fact that you are already here does no invalidate the policy

For three month you might rather look at a travel insurance with repatriation to your home country.

Providers of private health companies are unreliable since we see British people etc after car accidents not being reimbursed for hospital expenses.Last time a year ago 29 year old British tourist crashed his motorbike and his health insurance covered absolutely nothing. All of these means the same thing and constitute the subject of closed tourism study.

Traveling to Thailand become more - more expensive for average tourist sιnce European citizens have full cover of health treatment in any state of European Union. European Nation Embassies in Bangkok is responsible for this horrible situation.

European Union Embassies are required to contract with hospitals in Bangkok and Phuket to treat European citizens with minimal charges and not very expensive charges of the international health care mafia.

AXA and LUMA have very affordable travel coverage I suggest you check them out. Well under the $1600 you were quoted.

His final premium is $550 and that is for over 3 months. From the most reliable travel insurer in the business.

Premium cost should not be only consideration, likelihood of pay out is more important. I would strongly advise against a Thai issued policy on that ground.

Also need to consider the benefits: how much medical, are moto accidents included, are acute exacerbations of pre-existing problems covered, is there coverage (at adequate level) for medical evacuation back to home country etc.

I believe it was this one

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11612009/Sister-man-28-charged-thousands-Thai-motorbike-crash-urges-travellers-insurance.html

The issue wasn't sobriety, helmet or license - it was that his policy had expired before the accident.  He took out policy for only 31 days and the accident happened after that. Perhpas he extended his stay and forgot to also extend his insurance.

Ahh yes, expired policy is another valid reason to deny claim.

Seems paris333's butthurt is all about naught.
