Young Thai Man Returns To Work In Israel To Clear Debt

A YOUNG THAI worker took the risk of returning to work in Israel near the Gaza strip battle zone to earn good income and clear a heavy family debt with there being no other way out, Naewna newspaper said this morning (Dec. 20).

 

Mrs. Bunsri Prongjit, 62, a resident of Buriram city, regularly makes video calls to her son, Mr. Tom Prongjit, 33, who returned to work in Israel on Dec. 3 after earlier evacuation from the war zone to Thailand and given 15,000 baht assistance by the government.

 

She is very concerned about her son’s safety because fighting is still raging there but added he had no choice but return to complete his five-year, three-month work contract after having only served a year and two months so far.

It is a shame that there were no other options for him in spite of all of the blah blah press releases and fake promises from this and other governments.

   This is a story about one person, there are other people that make a decent income in Thailand and have no need to go abroad

Only issues with these is the Thai Gov actually get a kick back per person.... and the guy at the other end doing all the work makes like 15,000$ a year... 

 

Perhaps the Thai Gov should redirect their kick-backs to these people so they can return home...

There are also thousands of other people, mostly up here in Isaan, in the same situation as this young man. They have no alternative but to return to Israel to work and pay off the huge debts their families took on to get them there in the first place.

   Yes, Issan is well known as being the poor deprived area of Thailand , other areas are more prosperous

He is safer and better paid in Israel than he is working or walking across the street in Thailand.

Might bear remembering that the talk re Thais being released, during the ceasefire, was, they were of no value. Many who accompany non Thais overseas, are treated similar, and some who leave in search of work, abused. Best not to be so fussy and be prepared to move about the province's, a safer option. More locals working in Pattaya now, than before covid. Never seen so much local faces, in the traffic.

Thailand seems to offer a lot to people from neighboring countries, I come across so many of them, from my pool service, the guys who collect the rubbish and service in restaurants..... we all know most of the construction here is done by non Thais.

I disagree, although it's noble to want to clear his debts i could think of nothing more stupid than entering a war zone through choice.

In the main, Thailand has to keep the bulk of the labour force on a low income to keep it competitive, either domestic businesses or international businesses ie the auto industry, or other foreign manufacturers.

Thailand itself has nothing to offer.

If wages grew to what should be a livable wage those businesses would definitely look around for the next nation to house their industries.

If they pulled out Thailand would largely be a  nation of unemployed and be in real trouble.
