Huh?  Which chemicals are there "perhaps" in ping pong balls?

Huh? He was talking about the fluorescent paint the girls used. What are you going on about ping pong balls for?

  • The ping pong balls really weren't a big deal, unless they landed in your drink. The razor blades were slightly more impressive, but I felt really sad about what the goldfish had to endure

  • Most of those girls died of skin cancer long ago.

So you think that there is such a thing as "medical grade black light paint"?!   Fluorescent paint or UV light is not dangerous, never mind carcinogenic.

No, I don't think so. I thought we were all just crackin' wise about one of the silliest topics I can remember.  I have not done the research and I bow deeply to the factuality of your point. My own policy is to never let the truth get in the way of an entertaining social media post

Went once in 1992.........can't say it was particularly entertaining.

I thought it was interesting rather than entertaining, and educational as well, being an introduction to things never dreamed of in the Antipodean sexual desert I grew up in. Back there, a girl taking her clothes off while dancing badly to music was about as good as it got. At least we didn't have the obscenity of having to stuff a garter with money to make her perform.

That was something I loved about Thailand's farang night entertainment- no cover charge, no demands to keep drinking to stay, the girls didn't demand money to sit with one, and it was all pretty good spirited.

Happy days back then.

It may be a silly topic to you, but it made billions of baht for Thailand's bar owners and the performers themselves. Millions of sexually deprived western men paid a lot of money to fly half way around the world, just to see such shows and have a happy ending after. That says something about the western countries they came from, and not in a good way.

Should have gone to Nana Plaza. No covercharge and shows included.

Patpong was a dump in comparison, and I only went there once a trip to see if it had improved, but it never did.

I went to Nana Plaza the next year, cause on my first visit in 1997 I didn't know Nana Plaza yet. Anyhow, haven't visited a Patpong bar since then.

Huh?  What toxic chemicals are there in fluorescent paint?

On my very first visit to Bkk I was staying in an hotel off Sukhumvit and walked around Sukhumvit looking for the fabled Thai sex scene I'd heard so much about, but without any success. Closest I found was a gay massage place ( I didn't go in ). Ended up walking right past Soi 4 on the other side of the road and ended up in Patpong, which was a disaster for me anyway ( I was just too naive to be let loose in that place ), and I had to pay the hotel security to let the girl stay with me ( I learned never to stay in those places again pretty quick ).

My next trip I discovered Cowboy where I found the future Thai GF for my next 4 years. So, it was about 5 years before I found the delights of Nana. Never went anywhere else after that, and Dynasty Inn every time.

I don't know, and don't really care either. If you read my post properly you would have noticed the word "perhaps", which would have saved me from having to respond to posts like yours.

The first time I saw a talented stripper, was in Sydney. It was actually entertaining, unlike the mortifying embarrassing scenes in some of the Thai places we visited.

I dunno man. When the Thai girl gives you that smoldering smile and the spotlight sparkles off her braces there's just nothing like it ;-)

Do tell us where in Thailand you saw an actual strip show. I must have been in almost every Gogo in Bkk, except the notorious rip off joints upstairs in Patpong, and many of the Pattaya and Patong places over a span of decades, yet I never, and I mean never, saw an actual strip show. That's provided you are not referencing the 30 seconds it takes for them to take off the bikinis before going on stage.

However, if they have taken to stripping in the last 3 years, I will bow to your more recent knowledge.

Although I never saw one in Thailand I agree that if there was it would not be particularly interesting. It takes more enthusiasm than any Thai gogo dancer ( if we can call shuffling around the chrome pole dancing ) that i ever saw can normally muster to be a good stripper. The only time I ever saw some actual enthusiasm was when they were competing for a money prize in a dance competition. They can boogie if they have an incentive to do so.

I do actually know what a strip show is, having spent far too much time in them.

We are actually agreeing 😊

I felt embarrassed for myself and the girls in Thailand. Whereas in Sydney it was a bona fide show in a theatre, rather than some girl lifelessly parading themselves.

You must have been unlucky with your choice of Gogo then. I know some are rubbish. The good ones were great.

Good.

The entire purpose of those shows are to rip off tourists with a big additional charge afterwards.

No, I wasn’t unlucky. I went to the best rated at the time. I didn’t go there to pick anyone up. I visited with friends. Not my style to pick girls up in that manner and then shuffling around was just uncomfortable.

No idea what you are on about. None of the shows I saw involved a fee of any sort. No door charge, no cover charge and normal drink price.

Where did you get ripped off?

I've never been to one of those shows, but it's well known in Patpong, Bangkok that they rip off customers.

Where have you been going to those shows?

I no longer live in Thailand, so I don't anymore, as I live in a country that has less sexual fun than a desert.

I used to see them in Nana Plaza, the best Gogo area in Bkk.

IMO Patpong was a steaming pile of horse manure in comparison to either Nana or Cowboy.
