positivevibes Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 This has nothing to do with the foreign women and everything to do with an authoritarian Government acting like dictatorships. Cities the world over will be horrible places to live in the future. Anyone who values freedom should go live in rural areas. 1
hotchilli Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 I do hope they asked the ladies permission to use their images in public? 2

Live, shoot up, defecate on the streets, shoplift for fun & profit all good now. Plus a lot of other stuff. Rural area, yup.
Chris Daley Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 hahahahaha that the best thing I've seen in a while. lmfao
Chris Daley Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 A simple AI generated image would have been better.
Popular Post Gknrd Posted January 20, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 20, 2024 I agree with the Thai's on this , it is outragous and extremly offensive ! Ok, I am off to the Go Go bar , and on my way I think I will stop off at the "weed" shop for a toke. Then , off for a soapy massage. With a happy ending. 1 1 2

Do the same to Thais, especially influential Thais, and you are looking at hefty fines and a nice vacation in the slammer.. 1

Chris Daley Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 So they are admitting that the sign wasn't visible to begin with? Do monks have lawyers?
sambum Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Firtst of all they complain about the 2 women sunbathing and say there should be a sign telling tourists that it is forbidden to sunbathe in the temple grounds - they get their wish for a sign and now they complain about the sign! They'll be complaining about the sunshine next saying that it is tempting people to sunbathe! Thin skinned or what? 1

But only partly. Decades of living here have taught me, that there is one law for Thais ,who can be very litigious when it comes to their reputation/profit/face, and one for non-Thais. Thais suing farangs and fellow Thais for defamation is a common occurrence, so is violence in regard to loss of face. Never heard of a farang suing a fellow farang in Thailand for loss of face. 1

The sign put up by Phra Nakhon district officials is in three languages, Thai, English and Chinese, and has graphic images of a person lying down, a bikini and a photo of the two foreign women sunbathing with red crossed circles over them forbidding these two activities and wearing the skimpy garment. However the online uproar arose over the photo of the two foreign women which although their faces had been pixelated was thought to be inappropriate without getting permission from them to use it. This TV Channel’s reporters questioned the district chief about this sign and he explained that in designing it the intention was to clearly convey a message to foreign tourists about what is forbidden so that they immediately understand because violation leads to a 500 baht fine. by TNR Staff TOP: The sign that was slammed on Thai social media. Just my opinion!
Quit Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Two hot Ladyboys would have been so willing to pose for that pic. Without pixeling.

geisha Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Really ? Honestly, who can recognize the two women from the article?? What they did was wrong in Thai eyes , the sign is just a thoughtless childish act of some official. Much worse than that around the country. Just add it to “ Funny Thai signs” online. Have a look, some of them are priceless!!!

Well I can only speak for myself, I do have a life, I have a very good life. I do rage on this forum occasionally, but I would never describe myself as an outraged netizen, I don't take this stuff very seriously and I'm mostly posting just for fun, and the sort of camaraderie that comes with interactions with other guys on this forum, many of whom are very intelligent and articulate, so speak for yourself. Ha!
OneMoreFarang Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 I guess that sign will do the job. Because I guess most women don't want to be in the press for this. And this sign is a very clear reminder for anybody that they should think twice what they do. Is it nice? Not really. But then, it is also not nice from tourist to disrespect Thai cultural heritage. Would they also sunbath in the Vatican? 1

Chongalulu Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Where’s the picture of someone having beer forced down his throat…and presented with an inflated bill…? 😤
fondue zoo Posted January 21, 2024 Posted January 21, 2024 Can we get two gut fat, bald, white hairy old guys in short shorts for a follow up piece? I want to see if they add a second picture to the sign.
