Russia, Ukraine, Crimea, Donbas & other regions goes a bit deeper, than just borders.  Not nearly as black & white, since USSR split up.

 

If the Jews were all Muslims, there would still be an outrage.   Iraq going into Kuwait rings a bell, and wasn't tolerated by the world leaders.

Nothing to understand.  UN established Israel, like it or not.   That was accepted, sort of, and agreed upon with treaties, after not so agreed upon.   Then new treaties, every time Israel violated the previous ones.

 

Which Israel has violate and expanded after agreeing not to.  Violating how many UN Resolutions ?  Rinse & repeat.

 

What am I missing ?  They are the aggressors.  Stealing people's land, homes & livelihood.

Speaking for myself. From being pro Israel over a lifetime (well since the 1067 war when I became aware of Israel) I have been a supporter of Israel and their right to the land in the Middle East. I lived happily in a Jewish town in the US for 20 years without any issues at all. Gradually after too many land thefts, atrocities killing kids; dropping white phosphorus bombs and cluster bombs after unwarranted violations of other nations including bombing raids on Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon after apartheid; after 60 years of occupation, after endless land thefts by zionist 'settlers'; after endless cover ups and protections by the US from sanctions/accountability at the UN; then on balance, I truly believe Israel has lost the moral high gorund and has become, under Bibi, a force for evil, as South Africa was in the past. Today, with the change in definition of anti-Semite from being a visceral hatred of Jews, to someone who criticises the Jewish state for its blatant inhumanity, this makes me an anti-Semite and I am quite happy with that designation. This current conflict the attitude of Israel, as expressed by Bibi appals me and makes me sick. I guess I am usually a supporter of the underdog, and in this latest conflict my sympathies are with the decades long suffering Palestinian people, the innocents being murdered by the IDF and the Houthis, who are the only people willing to do anything about this. My hope is that this latest slaughter on innocents by Israel will result in the whole world shunning their vile regime with its militaristic and murderous worldview. 

The vile attitudes of people, like Ezra above, cheering on this current slaughter make me want to vomit.

Hate is very powerful thing in people's minds.  Makes them in some way feel superior and better then others.

I missed this....a truly brilliant observation.....yes the world is filled with hatred, we are encouraged by our governments to hate certain people whether that be Russians or Ukrainians, by Democrats of Republicans, people who have a different system of government like the Chinese, etc. etc. I honestly don't know whether there was a time when it was not like this.....looking back in history, religion caused a huge amount of hatred: Jews vs Christians, Catholics vs Protestants....so maybe it was ever thus.
