Pride flags would be largely banned Tennessee classrooms in bill advanced by GOP lawmakers

The people ‘pushing this’ are the rightwing.

Create an outrage and reap the votes.

If putting up rainbow flags in classrooms causes an outrage among the citizenry, perhaps it's not a great idea.

But I do agree, banning flags is just the start…. Oh wait, they started with banning books.

The banned books contained child pornography and depicted children in sexual acts and showed boys how to bum each other and those books were banned

SAT Scores by State 2023 - Wisevoter

I look forward to scores AND percentage of students sitting the tests.

Again, when you claimed they needed more money, and I explained that Tennessee ranks way higher on average SAT scores than does California and New York, yet California spends 56% more, and New York spends 143% more than Tennessee I thought you were going to come back with something.

You're a teacher, aren't you? Come on, support your claim that money will help.

No, I’m not a teacher, but I do understand data, which is why I asked you for both SAT scores and student participation.

Refer to the interactive map in your link.

Tennessee’s score is based on a rate of 5% student participation, not so that of  California or NY.

That does not address that tact that that you claimed they needed more money, and you had no response when I explained that Tennessee ranks way higher on average SAT scores than does California and New York, yet California spends 56% more, and New York spends 143% more than Tennessee.

That fewer students choose to take the test means nothing. The students that do take the SAT score much better.

Do you have anything that shows students in California and New York score better than Tennessee student on math and reading tests?

Come on, you claim to understand data. Please support your false claim that more money will help and how it needs to be spent.

Tennessee 5% SAT participation. Do you think this might be the five percent who hope to do well?

Overall educational attainment is a far better metric, Tennessee … erm.

Even without the high numbers of immigrant students that California and NY school, Tennessee struggles.

Minorities, gays and immigrants being singled out and scape goated.

Get the picture yet?

In their minds only!  You left out persecuted.

Do what you want as an adult.  Not an issue.

Keep your drag queens and flags out of the children’s classroom.

Please explain the queens purpose of indoctrination of children?  What’s the motive?  The only motive I see is grooming.

Prove me wrong.

And if the public doesn’t agree with you shoving your agenda down their throats, their homophobic. racist, white supremest and anything else you can think of.

They preach about tolerance and acceptance unless you don’t agree with them.  Then see how much tolerance and acceptance they give.

I am a "liberal" and in this case agree there is no good reason to put up a gay pride flag in a classroom. Is there such a thing as a "straight pride" flag? If there were, should that also be put up? And how about an "Asexual Pride" (Not incel) pride? US and state flag only. If student wants to wear a button, fine, no problem.

I am neither a Democrat or a Republican supporter, although I do favour the Democrats. HOWEVER, I also see no good reason to put up a gay pride flag in a classroom, and as you say, I agree that the US flag or state flag are the only flags which belong in a classroom.

That being the case, there will be no arguing or disagreements about which flags are being displayed – – simple really.

There are cases where it makes sense.

Such as during pride month to help gay students who are often badly bullied feel welcome by school officials probably reducing feelings of isolation, depression, and to reduce suicides.

Also perhaps there is a school club for gay students or gay straight alliance clubs.

A problem with banning pride flags is that it is a strong signal to teachers to self censor about anything gay in any teaching context.

Such as sex education, history, sociology, the arts, etc.

Basically a don't say gay policy without the need to pass an explicit law about.

BTW this issue was addressed on the latest episode of the tv comedy sitcom The Conners.

Okay for Palestinian flags and the rhetoric that goes with them in the classroom okay as well?

Maybe a river-to-the-sea chant each morning if the teacher likes?

Once again you make claims without any back up (known as unsubstantiated claims) then expect others to disprove the claims you yourself can’t prove.

It’s probably why it’s so easy to get you to believe garbage.

You claimed to understand data, yet when asked if you had anything that shows students in California and New York score better than Tennessee students on math and reading tests you post a link to that does provide the information, yet you pretend it does. Typical, dishonest leftist tactic.

This from someone that even after multiple requests has yet to support their false claim that funding is the issue, why it is the issue, or how the additional funding needs to be spent to improve the schools.

I’m sure you will come up more excuses to deny the facts.  It’s what you people specialize in.

So why are you/these  people so obsessed with grooming children?  I’m sure you a valid answer.

Even one from your own BBC.

Yes I do understand data.

5% participation in Tennessee

21% in California and 59% in NY.

Data sets that are nowhere near comparable.

That fewer students choose to take the test means nothing.

Righty-o.

Yeah you can find cherry picked anecdotal "news" stories to support any agenda. The truth is the "problem" of LGBT stuff in.schools is wildly exaggerated by right wingers.

Their fascist solution to this fake problem is to pass laws to completely erase LGBT people and content.

You claim you understand data, but you seem to know nothing of statistics.
