Nothing like a trip to the home country for a few months to change your way of thinking. Let's see if you can have 1/2 dozen beers and climb aboard your MB without the coppers bothering you, reasonable cost of living, bla bla bla but mostly the drinking and driving part.

Mostly the drinking and driving part. What a fool you are.

i have an opportunity to leave thailand in the next few weeks.

mrs smith doesnt want me to go.

personally i have had it up to here with this place,

ive had enough of the racism, xenophobia and silly little games the locals love to play on us.

I have a lot to lose here.

property, business, family etc.

but im not sure how much more I can take living here.

I want to live in a normal country

not in a video game.

decisions decisions.

bob.

..just leave then, asap. You are clearly never going to fit in here.

Seems a bit drastic to just drag up !!

Try making some changes here. Sell the business, move somewhere else, tour SE Asia for a while…..variety of things to try.

Then if that doesn’t work try a trip home with your wife for 3 months. Maybe then things won’t seem so bad here.

Hope you work it all out. Just my thoughts.

How many times a day/week/month do incidents of racism, xenophobia and silly little games occur. Do you feel that you suffer this more than others.?

Surely the comforts of your property, business, family etc far outweigh any  annoyances and inconvenience that happen to you.

Possibly you're just realising that for you, coming here was a mistake. Or possibly the shine has just worn off.

Happens to many people.

a country that is stable politically with democracy, rule of law, half decently educated populace and a welfare system that takes care of it’s citizens will do for me.

Yep, the UK has even made it illegal to use correct punctuation, such as capital letters at the start of a new sentence, commas and full stops in the correct place and (the worst offence IMHO), new paragraphs to make a chunk of text readable!! 🙂

Oh Ill willingly  give you that, I hate  typing, punctuation didnt like English at school and this  new  laptop has  keys rammed up to each other which is awful dell xps13

Anyway hows those mini satellites you were going to launch? Im sure you found the NHS  great when you were back there though and I really think they are.

How many decades ago was that?

IIRC, 30 years ago. If the BLM movement is any guide, IMO things have not changed much.

Witnessing racial tension and saying the country is racist is different. Sort of like me having been to Perth, Darwin, Gladstone and Brisbane that I really know a thing about Australia.

How many places in America would you like me to have been before I am qualified to form an opinion?

Change up where you live. If Pattaya, I could understand why. Nothing like going ‘home’ for a couple months to put things in perspective. After living here, you will not handle the staid, overbearing left-leaning lifestyle.

Given your posting history Bob, I'm surprised you are still here at all.

It's clear that you have an underlying dislike for Thailand that will generate negativity out of the most innocent of situations and your attitude is certainly not one conducive to a land where cultures differ.

That said, Bob, I imagine someone who is so quick to jump to negative conclusions to be satisfied or happy anywhere...

To use an appropriate exaggeration - You'd be the kind of guy complain that the sand at the local beach sticks to your feet too much and the locals put it there to stop farang's going to the beach....

So... whatever happens, wherever you go, its unlikely you're going to like it until you start identifying and resolving the issues within yourself.
