Someone found my post confusing.....is it one of the monkeys family?

Actually, I wonder what would happen if it was a few farangs using the sling shots at the monkeys?

Maybe you misspelled the word "pest"?

today I witnessed something truly horrifying.

A few monkeys came onto the beach, presumably on the lookout for food,

when 3 beach vendors armed with slingshots started firing at them!!

I was mortified,

so were the rest of the customers.

What gives them the right to behave in this manner?

surely there is a law against such barbaric behavior?

How can they be so cruel toward animals?

This happened at a well known tourist location in a secluded part of the beach.

it has completely ruined my afternoon.

would they do the same to cats?

I kinda doubt it.

bob.

And so they should these little barstads steal fruit and other food from Restaurants and vendors trying to make a living, On Koh Chang there is a 2k fine for feeding monkeys.

I thought all thais were good people.

theres nothing inherently good in firing a slingshot at a monkey!

bob.

There is nothing iherenently good in stealing food either.

I agree. It's cruel to use a sling shot on any animal.

But, if they become invasive... for example around your house, then you will understand this issue.

Monkeys can be a real pain in the a$$ or more.

Sometimes, the increase of these animal populations can be very dangerous and destructive when they start to invade. Australia culls kangaroos annually.

Yes sent back where they belong, in the flipping trees.

Years ago I had one break off a tree branch and throw it down at me while I was trying to get to my motorbike, there were about 20 running allover the bungalows where I was staying, and damaging them.

Isn't BB gun cheaper and more efficient?

No catapults are cheaper and the amo is free.

In the few times I've been around the monkey havens they've been unwatched, huge numbers, waiting to snatch/grab anything that might get their attention..... They're not cute & can be intimidating if you have a family/group to watch out for that catches their attention....

Even to the point of them jumping onto the hood of the car while we were trying to drive away....Sling shots are better than euthanizing them or paint ball guns.....

At the places I've been it's clearly their territory....
