Community Prime Minister Observes Counter-Terrorism Drills in Bangkok
Pictures courtesy of Amarin Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra visited Bangkok’s MRT Orange Line to observe a large-scale emergency response drill simulating threats such as terrorism, chemical attacks and active shooter scenarios. The exercise, held at Station OR14 of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) in Huai Khwang district, was designed to test and strengthen the country’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively to serious security threats in urban public transport settings. The training simulation included a series of high-risk scenarios, such as a bombing incident, a chemical weapons and mass shooting event and a hostage situation requiring intervention by special operations units. The Prime Minister personally observed the operations, which involved coordination between various security and emergency services. Following the exercise, Ms Paetongtarn addressed the personnel involved, expressing her gratitude and admiration for their commitment and discipline. “Although such events may not happen frequently, when they do, the consequences are severe,” she said. “The level of preparedness I’ve seen today gives me reassurance. If a crisis does occur, our security forces are clearly ready, knowing precisely what steps to take.” She also noted the growing integration of advanced technology and international cooperation in Thailand’s security infrastructure, which has helped enhance operational effectiveness. The exercise, she added, was a clear example of inter-agency cooperation and readiness, vital for public confidence. The Prime Minister praised the K-9 unit participating in the drill, sharing a light-hearted remark that, unlike ordinary household pets who would be startled by gunfire, trained dogs in the unit remained calm and focused under pressure. “I’m truly impressed,” she said, “and deeply grateful to all involved. This kind of training reassures the public and strengthens national security.” The event concluded with Ms Paetongtarn extending encouragement to all units and officials, stating that the public could feel safer knowing such measures are in place and constantly being improved. Early assessment suggests US strikes didn’t destroy Iran’s nuclear sites
Jun 27, 2025 10:12 PM IT Iran Carries Out String of Executions and Arrests Amid Fears of Infiltration of Israeli Spies Iran has executed three men convicted of spying for Israel and detained hundreds more civilians in a widening crackdown that rights groups say reflects growing paranoia within the Islamic Republic's leadership following a deadly exchange of strikes with Israel. The executions, carried out by hanging in the northwestern city of Urmia, targeted Edris Ali, Azad Shojaei, and Rasoul Ahmad Rasoul—ethnic Kurds accused of aiding the Israeli Mossad in the 2020 assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a prominent nuclear scientist. Their names had previously appeared on a list published by Iran Human Rights (IHR), an Oslo-based advocacy group, which warned that at least ten men faced imminent execution on similar charges. https://time.com/7298282/iran-israel-war-executions-arrests/
