Headline is a bit misleading, in that for 3 months during low season, Russian tourists will be able to enter Thailand visa free for a period of 60 days. They are currently permitted to enter visa free for a period of 90 days.

The big wigs in Bangkok do not give a damn about the Thai people. They only care about money. The reason the Russian flock here is quite simple, OTHER COUNTRIES DON'T WANT THEM. 

You lived here for 15 years and just realized that Money is #1 in Thailand....5555.  Been like that for decades.  No Thai is forcing anyone to stay here.  Once folks realize that, life can be fine here.  I am an American and will deal with the crap here in Thailand than to go back and retire in that once great country.  Thailand is a paradise compared to the nightmare that is America right now.  Also, money is worshipped in America, so God bless the Thais for doing the same thing.

My guess is that the army still which wields a lot of influence over this administration, has a tremendous amount of admiration for Putin, as they love dictators, and they wish they could be dictators, and they figure why not treat the citizens of dictators exceptionally well?

 

After all, they are model citizens, and show so much kindness, respect and goodwill towards the locals.
