Makes no sense at all. Just yesterday reporting a possible 300 Baht fee due to too many tourists and today, concerns about the low season (that happens every year).

Surprised to see an advert for a cold brew beer at the top of the page. Such ads are not allowed are they?

I hope not.

After Songkran and after Farangs went back to their home countries, I like it to sit relaxed at the beach.

The plastic bag and "waste throw everywhere" time is over. And soon Thailand reminds me of my first visit in 1988. 🙏

Today's news: Oh my Buddha! It's low season and there are no tourists here, what will we do?

Yesterday's news: Thai tourism sector proposes 300-baht tax to counter over-tourism

This was the nature of the tourism sector that did not change for the past decade.

So, how can it then be a kind of surprise, worthy a news story...:whistling:

Anticipated Low Season Challenges Thai Tourism Operators

Thai tourism operators are bracing for the annual low season following the country's Songkran Holidays, a time usually marked by a high influx of tourists. Sisdivachr Cheewarattanaporn, the head of the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA), highlighted the importance of businesses finding alternative opportunities to stay afloat during this period.

This cycle of peak and low seasons is a common trend in Thailand's tourism sector. As the quiet period approaches, tourism from western, eastern, and European regions generally dips, noted Cheewarattanaporn. However, Chinese tourists continue to visit Thailand thanks to a current visa exemption agreement.

Despite relatively low numbers of Chinese tourists during the World Songkran Festival 2024 in Thailand, largely due to high flight costs, Cheewarattanaporn remains positive about Chinese tourism trends. He predicted that if the current rate of 20,000 to 22,000 Chinese tourists per day continues into the fourth quarter, ATTA could meet its target of 8 million Chinese visitors by year-end.

Amidst these predictions, Cheewarattanaporn also cautioned about the potential impacts of the ongoing Middle East conflict on Thailand's tourism. He stated that if the conflict between Israel and Iran intensifies, it could negatively impact the global economy, and consequently, Thailand's tourism sector.

Overall, as the low season poses challenges, Thai tourism operators must explore innovative methods to maintain their businesses. The reliance on tourists from Taiwan, India, and China emphasizes the crucial role of diversified visitor demographics in supporting Thailand's tourism sector. The global geopolitical landscape also continues to sway tourism trends, further emphasizing the need for operators to stay updated with world developments.

I hope for a long and very quiet low season. Sadly I can't get out to Thailand this year during the low season. But it would be good to help pricing come back down to reality as they are asking high season prices in the hotels. Also just after COVID which I got stuck in as I booked during the pandemic thinking COVID would end earlier so I would not get caught up in the rush. I never want to be in Thailand when it's crowded again. Hated it

doesnt have to ....but if you prefer cosying up to china go for it. we already know  we can plug the gap with wealthy europeans if you simply book the entertainers of the countries you are trying to reach - its not rocket science.
