NEW YORK, May 23 (Reuters) - A few thousand Donald Trump supporters gathered on Thursday in a New York park in the mainly Hispanic and Black neighborhood of the South Bronx for a campaign rally highlighting his effort to chip away at President Joe Biden's base among minority voters.

 

By early evening, a few thousand attendees had gathered at Crotona Park for Trump's speech, scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. The crowd was more racially mixed than his typical rallies, which are predominantly white. Supporters wore baseball caps with pro-Trump slogans like "Trump Was Right" and "Ultra MAGA."

It doesn't matter that before Covid his economic record was mediocre at best, and abysmal after Covid took hold. It doesn't matter that he's a whiny crybaby.

 

He can call Neo Nazis who march and chant "Jews will not replace us" fine people. He can post about a Unified Reich. He can admit he will be a dictator. SO long as his campaign slogan is "I am your retribution", his sheeple feel like they can 'get back' at successful people who have made them feel bad for being such losers.

 

While the guy has some some absolutely absurd things in his life, and been a business failure (save for his inheritance, allowance, daddy co-signer of all his loans, and finally his silly Game Show), these are some things that I know will lead to economic collapse:

 

---He said he will do another tax cut (which NEVER results in trickle down, just trickle on) and which will additionally decimate the budget, like his last one

 

---He has said HE, not the Fed, will set interest rate policy. Expect that to be ZIRP again, which will cause inflation and hammer the dollar

 

---He said on CNBC a few years ago that he would consider defaulting on foreign-owned USTs. Since foreigners and foreign govts still fund a good portion of the US deficit, such talk will send them running and drive up rates (or collapse the dollar if he tries to set i policy)

 

His sheeple will get what they want, and also get what they deserve. I expect the US will see 20% unemployment (exacerbated by AI), Stagflation (negative GDP and maybe 15-25%+ inflation), and a US dollar total collapse. Of course he will blame Obama or Clinton or Mother Teresa or anyone other than the guy solely responsible:  him.

 

I will experience schadenfreude watching his sheeple suffer. They will deserve whatever pain life throws at them. They were stupid enough to think a conman clown actually both knew anything and cared they exist (other than to get their vote or sell them some Golden Sneakers).

 

Those of you with brains (sorry, trumpers) have about 6 months to immunize yourself against the coming disaster. Once you do, get your popcorn and watch the cult flail. Darwin will be busy churning out awards.

  Rather than costing the federal government $1.7 trillion in tax revenue, the Trump tax cuts are currently projected to add $1.3 trillion over what the CBO projected higher tax rates would have generated.

Trump isnt afraid to talk to people where they live. Witness his huge crowd last week in New Jersey, another Democratic state. For his faults, at least he doesnt look like a corpse, as Bill Maher so accurately described Joe Biden.

It is unlikely for Trump to flip the state of New York but it does provide an opportunity for Trump to create some excitement among his supporters who otherwise might not get to attend a Trump rally and for non supporters to be at the rally to protest. Trump is doing his usual thing in attracting press attention in the nation's biggest media market. A rather banal event.

Biden began his Sunday delivering the commence address at Morehouse College before arriving in Detroit in the afternoon for a private campaign event and then followed that up speaking at the 69th annual NAACP Fight for Freedom Fund dinner at Huntington Place. A packed and exhausting day. I doubt Trump has the energy and fitness for such schedule.
