Oxygen tank explodes and kill worker in Nong Khaem

At 11.07  today, responders from Nong Khaem Fire and Rescue Station were called to a fire at 2-story townhouse on Soi Phetkasem 77/8, Nong Khaem.

 

The premises was being used as a weilding shop and the fire was caused by an oxygen tank that had exploded inside. One worker was found dead.

 

The cause of the incident is being investigated.

Yes sad, but also fortunate there were not more casualties, as this was in the middle of a residential area.

It is now being reported that this involved an acetylene cylinder, which seems more likely as the area was closed down for most of the day.
 

This had the potential for a lot more damage and think the neighboring properties were lucky, as the premises had no permission to operate and 71 cylindrrs were found in the building.

 

37 oxygen, 16 carbon dioxide and 18 acetylene.
