What do locals think of foreigners living in rural parts of Thailand on very modest budgets?
So what? It's called economizing. What do Thai's think, and I'm speaking as a foreigner living in a rural Thai village? The reality is that my "fixed income" (pensions from the government and my previous employer) puts me into the "well-to-do" category when compared to the villagers. We have a rai of land and two houses, no debt, savings, and various investments. I get along with villagers whom I've known for years although I'm a fairly private person. So what do rural Thais think of me? That's probably reflected in the status of my wife, who had she been under 60 years old, probably would be the head of the village. She's highly active in both temple and village affairs, and I'd actually call her the defacto village head. Why? That's pretty much a direct cause of being financially solid due to her marriage to me, which gives her a leg-up in status and allows her to be active in village affairs. So what do people think? We're relatively high status. Some people respect that; other probably like neither my wife or myself. Do I freaking care what they think or what you think OP? No - I do not. I'm not particularly fond of busy-bodies. I find that people like the OP sort of remind me of Gladys Kravitz on Bewitched or Stanley & Helen Roper from Three's Company, and Ned Flanders from the Simpsons. Dude's like the OP simply can't keep they nose out of other people's business and are endless critics of how those of us who are simply trying to live a good live in a country where a living a good life is affordable, unlike back in the freaking United State. So OP. Find a different hobby. Throwing shade at the rest of us on social media who you seem to look down on simply reflects your own insecurities. My guess is one of the only ways you find purpose in life is to demean other expats. Screw that. Really! -

Getting Thai health insurance for 68 year old American
AIS handle lots of insurance companies. The fact Bumrungrad will accept co-pay from AIS is completely irrelevant, it has nothing to do with WrLife and it doesn’t mean WrLife will pay anything. Did you read the article from insuranceinasia? Did you read the 1* reviews on trustpilot? Did you see the management’s own 5* fake posts pretending to be clients? What more could you possibly need?
