Popular Post webfact Posted June 7, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 7, 2024 BANGKOK: - Thai authorities have intensified their crackdown on the illegal sale of nitrous oxide, famously known as laughing gas, along Khao San Road. The operation focused on stamping out the distribution of the gas-filled balloons and targeting foreign workers hired by establishments to evade legal scrutiny. Last night at 9 pm, senior officers, spearheading the operation, combed through entertainment venues and restaurants along the iconic street. The primary target was an establishment at the far end of Khao San Road. Here, officials confiscated numerous laughing gas balloons and promotional materials advertising their sale. Several foreign employees were detained for questioning concerning their legal status in Thailand. According to an officer involved, these businesses persistently sell laughing gas despite previously being caught last February. These businesses employ foreign workers to distance themselves from the illegal activities and dodge prosecution. Picture courtesy: MGR online This strategy to employ foreign labourers insinuates a deliberate effort by vendors to sidestep legal consequences. The proprietors claim no involvement in the illegal practices, striving to evade legal repercussions. However, authorities are adamant that the businesses remain accountable for any illicit activities occurring on their premises. Another officer reinforced this viewpoint, noting that changing sales tactics to avoid detection will not absolve businesses from their responsibilities. Ultimately, the business owners must ensure their establishments adhere to the law. This recent crackdown underscores the ongoing challenge of enforcing legal standards on Khao San Road. A hotspot brimming with tourists and locals, it remains a focal point for illicit activities, including the sale of laughing gas balloons. By holding sellers and businesses accountable, officials aim to cultivate a safer environment for all who visit Khao San Road. Popular Post ricklev Posted June 7, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 7, 2024 The vendors are conveniently located within 100 meters of the police station making the crackdown easy. 2 2

Popular Post newbee2022 Posted June 7, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 7, 2024 In general I really don't understand taking or consuming/inhaling any drugs. What is wrong with someone not being able to enjoy life without? Is virtual reality or fantasy at last your lived reality? Maybe I'm too old and know too much about drugs and their side effects or brain damages. 🙏 1 1 1 2 3

Possible. Also possible that the right payments are being made and the occasional raid like this one is so that the correct appearance of the application of the law exists. I mean, they did a raid only in February and already they have to do another one. So tedious having to do 3 raids a year on a store 100 meters from the police station. Don’t crims know the BIB is seriously over worked!/s 1 2

It is a controlled substance and you need a permit. I expect the whipped cream canisters are one of those Thai anomalies where food equipment gets a pass, a bit like buying food grade 100% ethanol. 1
Popular Post Ironmike Posted June 7, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 7, 2024 If the police station is so close why doesn't someone simply take a gas bottle with a hose and stream it into the cop shop,,, problem solved. 3
connda Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Crime of the century. Nitrous oxide. Laughing gas make you feel good. Thai government no allow commoners to feel good. Only drink alcohol sold by Thai monopolies or smoke cigarettes sold by Thai monopolies. Use laughing gas we throw you in prison for feeling too good. Criminy. 🙄 1 1

rocketboy2 Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Quote Authorities Crack Down on Laughing Gas Oh, I thought it was a thread about Farting. I must be behind the times.
DTL2014 Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 as soon as it reappears - let's report it to the police station and take photos for the bangkok post.Any inaction by the police would suggest that they are on the payroll. And therefore shouldl face dismissal. That is about the only way to handle it...we need to demand better policing 1 1
Frankie baby Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 500 BHT fines all round for the distribution premises. A little higher for the illegal workers, well, they didn't look like farangs.
sambum Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Love the headline! I have a mental image of hundreds of people in a "frenzy" in Khao San Road and "laughing their heads off" having partaken of the "laughing gas"! 1

Some people including me at 70 are not averse to taking a drug to enhance pleasure in life. Weed in fairly small amounts is about all I require these days. I assume you are also a non drinker, because if not, you are being hypocritical saying that you don't understand people taking drugs. 1
