As such, Ethnic Europeans(and direct descendants of the Siberian tribes) are the only people who can be called Canadians in Canada.

All others are simply foreigners who have somehow been granted a Canadian travel document such as a passport, but they are NOT Canadians.

 

Same applies to all the other countries of the Americas.

I had many holidays in Pattaya prior to getting married here, I never used a safe in a rented room. I kept my valuables to a minimum before I left my home. I always had enough pocket money to pay for a taxi to Pattaya. Next morning I planned my agenda and lived off my debit card. Seriously guys would you trust a total stranger with your valuables in your country? If you must use a safe then you might as well leave the door open.

I generally keep $4,900 USD separate from my wallet, because $5K is the non-report limit for some of the countries I visit.  Sometimes, I'll go for years between dipping into it.  But when I needed it, I needed it. Usually because the bank "detected unusual card use" and 2FA didn't go through, for SIM issues.

 

 

 

I lived in Thailand for 10 years and never kept more than 5000 baht in my condo 
I went on holidays all over the world only travelling with credit cards, and these days even easier with the smart phone.  Welcome to 2024 .

 

Maybe you are talking about the "good" old days. 

If I really have to pay for a lady I just visit the nearest ATM. Keeping big cash inside your room is a big no no anywhere in the world. 

And 90k baht is at least 4 months salary in Thailand.

The guy in the news story is either a Pakistani, Bangladeshi, or Indian, who happens to also hold a Canada travel document. He is by no means a Canadian, and never will be.

Strange.. all the ones bar one have been well secured, usually to the back of the wardrobe. The one I had issue with seemed to have become loose... like many plumbing fixtures and wall outlets do. An over-ride code is a weak feature....
